TT GMT 3rd and 4th Time Zone Usage
Well, as posted before in a review I did, really liking my new TT GMT II and the practical features it has for me.
Using it to tell 4 different Time zones. Here is how: Hour and minute hands set to Local time here in Afghansitan. Green 24 hour hand set to USA Time. (Just have to remember it is 30 minutes off, due to Afghan being one of the 5 countries in the world that are not on 1 hour increment time zone differences). At a quick glance gives a general idea of the time back in the USA (for calling relatives, bussiness calls, etc..). If need exact time, I just subtract 30 minutes. (the time is read off the 24 hour bezel, when fixed in the standardized bezel position - Bezel Triangle at the 12 oClock postion) Now, here in Afghansitan, with the US Military we also operate on Zulu time for specific mission requirements, operations, and flight schedules of fixed wing, and rotary aircraft. So when I need to know Zulu time, I move the bezel 3 clicks to the left and then move it to the 51 minute tick mark. Gives me real quick exact Zulu time! Now I need to know the time in Cambodia, to communicate with a friend I have there. I move the the bezel 11 clicks to the left. Gives me Cambodia Time. Need to know Hong Kong time as well occasionally to communcate with personnel/friends there, so move 12 clicks (from initial position) to the left. Need to know what time it is on the West Coast of the USA, to shoot Kansaivet an email or communicate with other friends or bussiness on the Left Coast, then move bezel three clicks to the right. Gives me West Coast USA time. Very versatile watch. The ultimate International travel/adventure watch! Last edited by leopardprey; 24 August 2007 at 07:35 PM.. |

Cool stuff, Chad!
The time is now 10.09 AM in Denmark. So now you know and can set the hand/bezel to know the time in Denmark and tell when I post here

That's really cool Chad!
Unfortunately...I'm dyslexic. Being a dyslexic architect is tough enough...mixing up 4 time zones and waking all my good friends around the world...that's just wrong. LOL |

I personally leave the 24 hour hand on GMT, the 12 our hand on local eastern daytime where I live. If I want to know the time in other timezones all I have to know are the hours plus or minus from GMT and dial that into the bezel. Helps while flying around the different timezones in the US and only staying for a few hours. If I go somewhere for a few days or weeks I set the 12 hour hand to local time and leave the 24 hour hand at GMT. Never missed a flight that way or woke the wife up at 0300.

I only need to turn the bezel once to track three time zones quickly.
The 24-hour hand gives me the time for one zone [usually zulu], and I have memorized the positions of a 24-hour clock, so I don't need the bezel. The bezel gives me the second [home time if I'm traveling]. The 12-hour hand gets set to local time. All that spinning of the bezel would make me dizzy. |

Excellent use of the GMT! My Explorer II (love it), but the bezel does not rotate.
