This Christmas I received my first Rolex, a completely new 2010 Submariner, that a family friend who is a jeweler helped my wife locate.

This is a watch I have wanted for some time and I never thought I would own. Needless to say, I am very happy to have it.

It carries a serial number V65xxxx. Does this number tell me anything about the watch?

I look forward to learning more about these watches from this wonderful forum.

At me to the list of those who obtained their first Rolex in December.

Congrats on the new watch and, most importantly, an awesome wife!

Nice Sub for sure.
If you are still reading this it might be a good idea to block the last few digits of the serial number.

Welcome to TRF.

Congrats.

Generally it is best parctice not to publish the full serial number. Generally it is best to give the following V345XXX for example. You may want to edit your first post.

It appears as your case was manufactured in 2008 based on what I can tell. However that does not necessarily mean the watch was completely built then so it really doesn't tell you everything.

Original post has been edited. Why block out the serial number?

Generally it is best practice to block your serial number to prevent people who manufacture fakes from using it and potential from soomeone who might want to say they had one stolen using your serial number. You might be amazed as to what lengths someone would go to. Basically it's worth blocking to prevent potential problems.

I also got my first Rolex last December. A better indication when the watch was completed is by the clasp code.

Congratulations! My wife did the same for me at Christmas when I got my 16713. Women are pretty cool. Wonderful ladies that are the wives of some are just that, wonderful ladies.

Your question has been answered so far as dating your watch (SN meaning).
But, here's a link for those interested in dating their watch. Not from this forum, but I'm new and apologize if it in bad taste. Though it seems not current past 2007...which doesn't help the OP. But also has bracelet stamp info and others may find it useful.

I like dating my watches. They never whine when I don't call them the next day.

http://www.oysterinfo.de/en/detailin...mern/index.php

As for typing in your full SN. Sure, even with the prefix, a scammer can run the last three or four digits to make a fake watch or thousands. Google "F437091"...just those digits alone and you will see what I mean.

Imagine the poor person with SN F437091 that stumbles upon a fake not only with that SN, but in the same ref and dial. Like a chinese Mona Risa.

Enjoy your watch and those others that just obtained one.

Thanks to all for the information and positive comments. This watch is quickly becoming as much of an addiction as my cars!
