I would gladly welcome an education on what is or is not a president. I recognize a day, date watch as a president. I have also seen similar watches that are only the day. I have also seen the 'presidential' band.

However, I sometimes see older watches like a 1503 that I have in all gold to be listed as a president. I did not think this was/should be called a president. Yet all you have to do is google it and there are watch companies that have it listed for sale as one.

Are they simply taking liberty of an older all gold watch and just calling it a 'President' ?

"President" is actually a nick name for the type of gold bracelet used first on Eisenhower's gold Datejust, I believe. He never owned a Day-Date. There's a lot of confusion on the subject.

The watch is Day-Date, always in precious metals and not in SS.

The bracelets used, as well as for the gold ladies Datejust in gold and platimun, were called "President".

Some were in "bark" finish, to my opinion their BEST version.

So then any Rolex that is not Day & Date, should not be called a president ?

There is no confusion whats so ever as to what he was wearing.

Ike's watch had a gold jubilee bracelet and the pictures below are of his actual watch.

Note the engraving in the back which Rolex did before presenting the watch.

to me a president is a day-date, whether it is an automatic or oysterquartz.

there is a president bracelet, typically associated with the automatic day-date. i don't consider a men's gold datejust on a president bracelet to be a president.

i DO consider a women's gold datejust on a president bracelet, a president, because there is not a women's day-date.

That used to be the case but nowadays Rolex refers to the DD as the President.
