When shouldn't I wear my Rolex!?

Hello I'm 16 and but recently inherited a rolex submariner, I had it checked out and it's real! I have been wearing it proudly for a few weeks now but the only place I havn't worn it is school I was wondering if Its safe for me to wear it to school or if I don't have to worry. Is it being to cocky or a proud owner who apreciates the complex marvel of 200 perfect syncronyzed parts which is a rolex. Would you wear one to school or not! Thank you for you input and please no negative comments!

Wear your Rolex!? Are you out of your mind!?

EDIT: Okay I'll be serious. It's all up to you whether you would like to wear it at school or not, depending on what school you go to and what kind of people you often see in it you should be able to make up your mind and decide if you personally believe it's safe to wear it or not. I for one don't believe I'd have a problem given the fact that nobody would notice it but we probably don't go to the same type of establishment so you can't take my opinion for a fact.

Insure the watch (have your parents insure it, you can't sign contracts likely yet not yet emancipated) and then it's safe to wear everywhere.

You know your school better than me. Remember, you're the owner of the watch now so you get to do with it as you please, but if I wore a Rolex to high school none of my friends would have cared, and my girlfriend wouldn't have cared either, but people were chill in the 90s ... these days you might ignight a class warfare riot! lol

Be like frodo - keep it secret, keep it safe.

A good friend of mine had a Rolex...in high school! (He was proud of the fact he earned the money to buy it himself!) He wore it all the time. Never a problem. But that was a long, long time ago. I think you should take the advice above. Insure it, and then wear it or not, depending on your good judgment. Most likely, nobody will notice it, but there are those stories about kids being killed for their Air Jordans.

I mean if it makes you feel uncomfortable. You can always put it on a NATO strap or a leather strap.

Have your parents insure it and wear it. To be honest most of your mates won't know or care about it - kids care more about smartphones nowadays as I understand it.

It's very difficult for anyone other than you to determine your level of safety in a given environment. How safe do you normally feel at your school? Does it have a history of theft or violence? If your concerned about it then don't wear it to school. Insurance is not the answer to wear or not. It won't pay for the heritage you'll be missing if it's stolen. Remeber you have a lifetime ahead of you and this watch. Don't be in a hurry unless you feel safe.

This....

I mean I wouldn't wear (majority of NO schools are require to wear uniform) or bring anything nice to my old school.

Ask your parents to insure it than put it on a NATO strap for everyday use. For special occasions switch back to the SS bracelet. You are a lucky young man.

Wear it and enjoy it , I think the only time people will pay attention to it is if you start boasting about it being a Rolex and how much it's worth.
If you keep it to yourself (and your close friends who you trust) what it is and as others have said insure it you will have no problems.
From experience most people don't know or care too much about watches and I am happy with that to be honest because to me it's all about MY satisfaction and pleasure when I look at my wrist.
Plus for you inheriting the watch it means so much more so get out and enjoy it

And you're basically an idiot if you go around doing that anyway...

No one will know it's a Rolex unless you bring it up. Don't bring it up. I'm a big believer that all Rolex are meant to be worn and safest on your wrist. If you leave it somewhere, it's like leaving cash laying around-- it will be taken. If you have to remove a watch at school for various activities, you might be better off leaving it a home.

If you feel uncomfortable try a NATO.

Personally... I'm not sure I would wear it to high school. That's just me though.

Hey, you should have no problems wearing it to school. if its a Stainless Steel Sub, 99% of the time, nobody will ever notice it, especially at high school. If it were me, I would definitely wear it to school, and not worry about anything

I'd guess that most of your classmates will have no idea what brand it is and the ones who notice, you can just down play it as a watch you inherited. That is, unless you are worried about your personal safety then of course the answer is no and save it for special occasions outside of school.

Please post a picture of your Submariner if its a modern or vintage model then my answer will be different.

snide comments don't really answer the OP's question now, do they ?

anyhow, i'd be more inclined to keep the watch for outside of school, rather than someone getting wind of it's worth & mugging you off or it getting damaged

I'm afraid I must defend him a little bit Eric. Indeed, my serious paragraph was written after my witty comment at the beginning of my post (hence the little EDIT I put at the beginning of my sentence). By the time I finished explaining my point he had read my joke and didn't understand it. Thank you for your post but I'm afraid I'm guilty!

It depends on your school, the class of people attending, teaching and administrating. I have always felt if parents want to expose their children to abuse, sex, pedophiles and drugs send them to school. I don' t believe one should bring any thing valuable to school for fear of it being stolen by a peer or confiscated by a member of the faculty.

I think using common sense is best approach--when in doubt don't but school is fine by me. Also--be subtle about it as the only person who needs to know what it is and what you're wearing is you! Enjoy it and wear it in good health.
