The Air King is no slouch....

Preferred by British fighter pilots and long distance pilots in the 40's the Air King was known for its ruggedness and reliability.

The updates to the new models are killer. It's a must have for any good Rolex collection.

And looks good on the wrist too !

Stick this in your barrel

Ouch. Nice looking watch, but I think 40mm is the low end of the size scale for my size of wrist...

Airking is 34mm from inception to 2007 14000m series

34mm--I do not have specs on the new series

Bo, That's killer... If there were a DJ that looked like that I'd be tempted. Hey, wait, maybe a little research is in order...

Tried on my wife's 34mm the other day, it didn't really look too small...

Larry, you can definitely get the older style 16200 DJ with that silver stick dial. I thought about getting one a while back.

Well, there IS a DJ like it, and it's one of my favourites, here the NEW STYLE; however:

If you put the silver dial on it, like the one below ↓ you pretty much get one like it:

However, THIS one is my all-time favourite DJ, exactly in this configuration (the Ref. 116234):

Can someone tell me when this Airking model came out?
I can't find that particular dial anywhere.. usually they have roman numerals or arabic at the 3/6/9 position. Is this a brand new 2008 model or something?

I can't find it in the list of dials either:

That is probably the most simple and subtle design ever created by Rolex. I really miss that exact look, however I do like the new Air Kings as well.

All Air Kings are also 34 mm and have always been that way. There was a new model without any Date released this year at Basel which is 36 mm. However that is not considered an Air King. Any model with Air King inscribed on the dial would be 34 mm.

That is the all time classic Air King, imho.

I LOVE the AK. Especially this particular design. I just wish they'd make a 39mm version....
