Suggestions on a Rolex for my wife

Am a newbie to Rolex and high end watches in general. Looking to buy a Rolex for my wife. We just got to know that she's pregnant. She is quite petite and I was thinking of a Lady Datejust (26 mm) with a pink dial. Looking towards the forum and the experienced members here to guide me. I am working within a limited budget and will probably look to buy one here on TRF. Any suggestions/ alternatives I should consider? Thanks in advance.

Simple...bring her to an AD and let HER pick out the watch she likes! I have been there and done this before and the first time me picking it out was not such a hit...second time with her picking it out was MUCH better experience...once you know what she likes then hit up the trusted sellers here

Agree with my gal colleagues here on the 31mm. There are so many dial and bezel options, and if you like the smooth bezel and oyster those are also relatively more affordable specs. It'll be a wonderful gift!

+1. Best to take her to the AD and let her choose. Discerning women have particular tastes and preferences and they usually think of what will best match their jewellery. Good move getting her her own Rolly.

I got this his (36mm) and hers (26mm). For my wife, it was her first Rolex and she really loved it and loves it to this day still. However, she now finds it small.

Going to the AD is not really an option. She's not really in favor of buying a relatively expensive watch. Besides, its a surprise...

My wife was the same way. She wanted a watch to last forever, but hated the idea of buying new at retail. As a surprise, one day I took her to a grey dealer and she selected a TT 26mm Lady DJ with a rhodium dial. Steep discount made her extra happy (~$3k price, no B/P). Gorgeous watch. I have since added a diamond bezel that really makes in shine. I think you've got the right model of watch in mind, but you might want to get her input on dial color, style, etc.

i personally would recommend chanel j12. girls might not know a rolex but a girl def know a chanel

Take a look on the various threads with women posting their watches, like the His and Hers, Ladies show us your watches, etc. You will see that there is a broad range. If you know her style overall you will be fine.

The pricey options are: two-tone, mother of pearl, and/or diamonds. To some women, these are the features that make a Rolex really appealing. What would she most care about? Think that through. The answer could be, steel and a plainer dial is fine, but only you know.

The last point: don't compromise on the basis of price alone. Get the nicest, most likely to please watch you can. If that means saving more, save for it.

Another thought - babies seem to adore shiny watches and find them irresistible for teething use. Just sayin' - a diamond bezel would assist in this matter.

She would definitely prefer something thats not too traditional. I am think she will prefer something in steel/ silver, with little or no gold. A pink dial with diamonds on the dial.

I did look at a lot of pictures prior to posting. My favorite is the 31mm chocolate with diamonds on the bezel. Just so classy. Unfortunately, its quite some way out of my price range.

I am ok with saving and then buying, but the problem is, the watch is for my wife. She is someone who probably hasn't spent over $500 on a watch. If I buy her a 10K watch, she will be really happy, but also a little upset. And I obviously don't want that.

The 31mm chocolate dial is amazing. My friend has one. There is a 31mm with purple dial with the same 26 brillant bezel and diamond setting on VI. That watch is about. The reference number is 178344 pdrj. I was thinking about getting the purple dial.

Chanel J12 is a great idea. Also check its "sister" watch, the Dior VIII. Just make sure to get a black one, it's more of a classic, and looks better too.

If you insist on getting a Rolex, then go for a 31mm DJ instead of 26mm. Even petite ladies wear bigger watches nowadays, so picking a small watch may not be the best idea. As for materials and dial options, if you go the BNIB/LNIB route, then your options may be limited. For a young woman I'd get a steel DJ with fluted WG bezel, and a pink or white dial.

I agree and you have lost of options from SS to TT and plenty of dial choices. If you are feeling more bold, maybe a ladies YM

Also didn't like the 26 mm because it was so small so I learned quite a bit.

I found a 34 mm Rose gold DateJust which she loves but now she just saw one with the flowers on the dial and wants me to get her that dial. never stops.

Great looking watch. I love the clean look of the DJ without the fluted bezel. Also, wondering if I should go for a 31mm vs. the 26mm. He hand is really very slender...but the big look is in...
