1680 Super Faded Insert.
Guys, I'm nick-naming this 1680 "Charm". I love the super faded "ghost" insert.
Thanks again, Matt! ---Now, I need a meters first Red dial

Hey, anybody got a technique for taking a new, shiny insert and "fading" it?

The results are not the same as when fading naturally occurs.

perhaps.the guys who live in sunnier climes could leave an insert on on a sun facing window ledge for a while and monitor it to see if it fades..if i stayed in that type of climate i would try it.

The toll the AZ sun takes on black "things" is simply amazing I bet I could fade one like that, maybe I'll try if someone has a bezel to donate. Summer is coming fast out here.... I could take pics once a week and post them.... |

I went through a lot of inserts before I settled on this one. I love the ghost fade as well.

Does it for me and B M II's as well
Something about the way it appears to blend perfectly with the steel. When I eventually go for a faded insert for mine, it'll have to be one like these...better start the hunt now then. |

well if you find your meters first, install the faded insert and find a new home for the feet first... in the meanwhile, enjoy this great watch !!

Matt, I LOVE that ghostly 1680 of yours....its the perfect vintage sub and finding one like it would complete a perfect pair with my ghostly college graduation 16750....

That is my all time favorite black faded Gmt insert that I have seen. That wrist shot with the boats gives the impression that you and the watch have been at sea for awhile. Well done.

As for being at sea for a while, I was a naval officer for a few after college and spent WAAAY too much time at sea standing mid watches. I have been racing sailboats since I was ten. I love closed course racing, and avoid offshore/distance races. "A gentleman should be at the bar by 1800 hrs"!!!

I just sold this 7021 with a ghost blue insert, I don't think the buyer would mind me posting a picture of it.
