Daytonaism ~ reaching enlightment.
I would wish to inform the most honourable members of TRF,that I am not seeking any more Daytonas.Enlightment has been reached. The circle is complete. The circle is a white and a black
One white and the black will be kept. The white will be worn, but only after the SD,has been sold. The white was the first choice and is the most destinctive. The black will be kept on ice, since it is the most special. The other white will be offered to my wife,to purchase if she wishes. At MSRP,off course. If not it will be sold and the profit seen as a slight discount on the white and black that I am keeping.Using Daytona to discount Daytona. This is not to say that it will be sold now ... Then, there is another black in the pipeline, one or two months from now ..... I am not interested. My wife will have the option on that one.If not, it will go to some other lucky person. Live and let live . Daytonaism ~ Using Daytona,to pay for Daytona. ..... and off course my thoughts on this may change anytime,as soon as tomorrow, who knows ?? !!!! |

I had this beemer for sale quite a few years back. Wife decided she might want it. The "yeah sure i'll sell it to you part" did not go over well at all.

I sell it to her at MRSP and she can sell it immediately at a profit OR she can keep it OR she can sell her white Expl II,which I gave her and keep the Daytona, then she is getting a bnib Datona at MRSP minus the value of the Expl II.Now thats a bargain.I am making her money !! The alternative is that I sell it at a profit.
Do not forget,I gave her the Expl II |

Actually,no,I dont drink much.3 Daytonas at MRSP from an AD,within a 5 week period.I would say thats very sober.Try it and see where you get ... My wife is a professional person. If you dont see the logic, she sure will. Its just a question if she wants the white now or want to wait for the next black.

Good plan! PM me if she/ya'll do decide to sell (seeing as how I'm currently on a waiting list for a white SS).

Your MRSP in the States is $7900.Thats a great price. Our MRSP is in the region of $9300.It will be worth your while to rather wait on one in the States

No not really, its easy to find. Its just a normal Rolex. Can always be bought again.A Daytona will REALLY go down well with her.Its a bit more special, for many reasons. She loves the Daytona and have thought of buying one herself. Its her choice a white now or a black later.Simple.

You noted that you paid MSRP for the Daytonas, but that is was much more than the US MSRP (7,900).
So what (in US $) did you paid approximately? BTW: I agree. The Black Cos IS the hardest to get and most special even though I would prefer the white one (more legible IMHO).

But those were the 16520ies "Zenith" mvt. Cal. 4030. Very nice mvt., too, but the in-house is much more refined (and has a hacking feature that the Cal. 4030 didn't). The MSRP for the 116520 is DKR. 54,600 which equals approx. US $ 9,750.

Thanks Doc.
I think you are on to something here. The ADs in the States know they can't get away with selling SS Daytonas to thier loyal customers at over MSRP. So they sell them to the Grey Dealers at an inflated price who in turn sell them again at an even more inflated price. Then the AD grumbles to us, "Sorry we are lucky if we get two per year." |

First, they get more than they claim.Second, say their cost is 60% of the MRSP($7900).That would be around $4740.Now, say they sell it to a grey @ $10-11k.That means they make $5260-6260 profit on EVERY Daytona.Makes one think doesnt it !! Also they dont have to wait, the grey will buy it immediately.Just from a business point of view .. why sell it at $7900 to you when a grey will offer much more ?? Just a theory. |

Your 100% Correct. I am just saying I hope this isnt the case. I suppose it is dependant on the dealer. I know of one place doing this, and know another who I think is dealing square. Takes all types! Have a good one! clk199 |

The ADs I bought the Daytonas from had no "funny clauses" ~ place a deposit first or buy another Rolex, then you may buy a Daytona or buy $$$ jewellry, then you may buy a Daytona ... etc.etc. I wouldnt spend $$$ with them if there was that type of BS. |
