SS GMT II, 1 or 2 polishing cloths?
Hey everyone, i was wondering if my new SS GMT II should have come with 1 or 2 polishing cloths? I only had one in my box, and it is made of the same velvet type material as the inside of the box with similar dimensions and no writing. Someone mentioned they thought that new Rolex watches came with a second larger polishing cloth with some Rolex labeling on them.. Can someone clarify if what i received is correct or should in fact contact my AD about a 2nd one that was missing from box. Thanks

I only got one, the same one as you mentioned, when I bought my new GMT 116710.

I believe there is only supposed to be one in the box.

There were only one small ones when I bought my GMT from Jareds. When I bought my SD from a local AD a few days ago, he gave me a big 1'x1' thick cotton cloth with "ROLEX" at each corners. He said he had not seen those "ROLEX" cloth with green edge around it come with sports models, those others some do and some don't, the WG, YG watches do have them though...

Here's the deal...sort of..
Your Rolex didn't come in a box.. The AD you (or your intermediary) bought it from put it in one.. along with everything else. The stuff that goes in the box has varied over the years. The past year they have only been putting that little 3"x5" piece of leatherette and have not included the larger towel (cloth).. This, of course, coincides with the new boxes that have a built in pocket in the lid that would hold the older larger polishing towels quite nicely.. I'll bet that since you just dropped at least 6 large on a new watch, your Dealer probably has one of the old style towels in the back that he will give you.... |

I think you are right. My AD got the warranty card, tool kit and other papers from a big file of box, and just grab a Rolex box(the white one) and putting everything in it. He just gave me the towel because I ask for one.
And I got a discount of between 15-20% for my SD which I was very happy with. |

The AD I used threw in two nice Rolex beige color polishing clothes.
Best deal was from a AD in Malaysia, when bought Explorer II from them, they threw in a really nice Rolex Green Leather Watch travel pouch. |

One last question, is the polishing cloth (small & included with my purchase) safe for using on entire watch (crystal too??)? Feels like very soft velvet or microfiber, but are there fine abrasive's in there? If so, should it only be used on bracelet/case? thanks
