The most unusual place you've used your bezel

I was at the county jail today to see a client. The procedure there is that the attorney checks in at the front desk, then goes through a metal detector and is "buzzed in" to a secure waiting area, where you wait for a deputy to bring the clients.

"Secure" in this case means being in the jail proper as you are now behind locked doors.

We've been told if we have been waiting for seven minutes to "buzz out" and report this to the front desk so they can check to see if there's a problem producing the inmate. Most of the time the deputy brings the client within that time period.

So today, I "buzzed in," set my bezel and precisely seven minutes later I "buzzed out" and reported I was still waiting. Then I "buzzed in" again, set my bezel and seven minutes later I was back at the front desk, again reporting that I still hadn't seen my client.

Now normally, I would be a little peeved at this point, but I have to admit that this time I was a little disappointed when they brought my client before I could "buzz out" a third time. No more need for the bezel.

So mine's the county jail. Where's the most unusual place you've used your bezel?

Well this is not unusual at all but I rotated the bezel on my GMT 1 when I was flying on a trip overseas. I set the bezel to read the time at the place where I was going while the hour hand still read the time back home.

The stewardess saw me and thought that I was playing around with my watch.

Iv'e use my bezel to time my dinner cooking. Apart from that I use my GMT bezel the most when travelling, it's fantastic for that

I use my bezel regularly to time the 45 minute halves in my son's soccer games. I also use it when I put a fiberglass cast on a fracture in my office to make sure the cast has "set" to the time I desire. I used to use a timer, but my office staff complained about the "buzzer" going off all the time! This way I can use my bezel and know when the cast has hardened sufficiently, and if I'm running a little behind schedule I don't have to run back into the treatment room to tell the patient the cast is OK. With the buzzer/timer, the patient heard it "go off" and if I didn't run back into the room he/she would get annoyed sitting there waiting!!

I have had a few opportunities recently to use my bezel on my GMT. When the embassy has a convoy of vehicles going from place to place, timing is of the essence not only for traffic control but for security as well. We end up with high-level politicians and visitors here from the United States to see the government and president of Tajikistan. I have had to be in several places at once, as usual, and our time schedules are very very specific. None of this rounding off to the nearest 15 minutes. I think we just found out to the nearest minute though. So I guess you can say the most unusual time I have used I bezel is in maintaining convoy continuity when traveling with embassy staff.

Great examples guys! Sure beats my meatloaf story. Use of the bezel as a simple timer is the feature I use second only to telling the time of day. So much so that I'm finding it an essential tool for work & play.

Me.. I use it to time the battery time on my recently new hobby of rc heli flying... 5 mins on each pack of Lipo Polymer batteries.

I have just started my interest to time how long the foods I ordered would arrived on my table in a restaurant. It's fun to analyze the service quality and compare them between one restaurant and another.
