Hello,

I am from Pakistan. I am planning to buy a platinum rolex within a week and need your input.

I am into luxury watches and the day date model seems the most attractive to me.

First i settled for a model . Platinum with MOP Black . Diamonds dial and diamonds on the bezel outside. After looking at this model

I felt that i love this dial more than the MOP with diamonds. If i use diamonds on the dial then i lose these Roman Numericals . Hence i am thinking about going for this model without MOP or diamonds inside.

Now my first question is that:

1. Where can i find a picture of this model with diamonds on bezel ?

Secondly i really love the ice blue dial . Is the shade the one which is on the link above on the official rolex site since it seems a bit darker on the link below:

so question 2 is

2. Is the Ice blue dial lighter or Darker ?

Lastly I cant decide whether i should go for a 36mm or a 41mm new day Date II

Problem being that i dont know If a 41mm will suit me or not. there is no way i can try it out this model since its not here. THey just bring it here on Order.
I do have a 36mm Rolex 2 tone jubilee bracelet and that suits me well. I also do i have a 39mm Tag huer Twin Time and thats suits me as well but i am not sure about a 41mm and looking at the big dial i am not sure if its a dress watch or not ?

Hence question 3:

3. Will a 41mm suit me? is it a dress watch?
( i am 36 years old, my waist is 34 and my wrist circumference is 6.5. I do have slim wrist)

4. One more question came to my mind. Do diamonds look Cheap on watches ?

Simple answer i would visit your nearest AD and try the watch on, plus the AD will have a master catalogue with all the dial options in.With a expensive watch like that you have to be 100% sure its right for you on your own wrist.

Most of the models i see for the 118206 says its the Glacier blue roman dial. I wonder where is that dial. None of the dials above says Glacier Blue roman dial. All i can see is the Ice blue dial on the website.

I just tried a 42mm and its big for my Wrist.

Anyone here has got some diamonds on the 41mm Platinum above. If yes do post its pictures

Not only may it be bigger it will also be substantialy heavier as well. This and many other factors is why you really need to try both on in person before you decide.

The problem is that there is only one dealer here in Pakistan and he just carries Steel and Gold at max. Other models are only on order.

I will post pictures of my wrist with various watches that i have. I guess maybe you guys can provide some insight.

To answer your question number 4.

I believe diamonds don't belong on a watch - especially for a mans watch.

While there are plenty of legit models with diamonds, I think the stones take away from the aesthetics of a Rolex.

Thanks Speed. What do you think about the Dimonds inside the Dial ? or do you have the same opinion for them as well ?

I have posted 41mm pics anyone can tell me if its big for me looking at the pics. if that can be established then i just have to look and decide from the 36mm Platinum model since those are the only 2 sizes in Day Date.

You really need to decide this for yourself. We can't really tell you what you should like or what suits you (or doesn't suit you).

Also, if you're prepared to spend the money on a platinum Day-Date or Day-Date II, and neither is available at your local AD, why don't you travel to one of the nearby countries that does have them available for inspection? At these prices, you owe it to yourself to see and try them on in person first, before deciding what you want.

Judging by the pics you posted, 36mm looks absolutely perfect. The Breitling looked way too big

And if thats the case then i can just order the 36mm rolex ice blue dial. Now i need advice where to put diamonds on it. First i was looking for a MOP dial on it. But my wife says that the WHITE MOP doesnt stand out with a PT diamonds. Hence she says i should go for Black MOP. I dont want a Black dial. I want white or Blue. Bright colors. Hence i guess i will have to leave MOP and settle for the Ice Blue dial.

I agree that it's best, especially when spending this amount, to travel to an AD and try the pieces you're considering in person.

That being said, if I were you, I'd go for the 36mm DD with either ice blue roman dial, or ice blue diamond dial if you really want diamonds. I am not a fan of diamond bezels and/or lugs personally.

To me, the 36mm size is perfect for a DD and it seems you're comfortable with this size

I can go for dial diamonds, diamonds on bezel

Or

I can go for Diamonds on bezel and lugs and keep the dial normal with roman numerics .

IMO you have the best 'ice blue' in the first picture.

fI you wanted to spice it up I would go no further than add the diamond markers.

Any more than that detracts from this very special Rolex.
