Discount amount from authorized sellers
Can anyone let me know what is the most discount you are offered from an authorized dealer in NYC? I am particulary interested in this model:
http://www.swissluxury.com/product_images/116234sso.jpg Rolex Watches - Datejust Mens Steel White Gold Bezel Style No: 116234sso Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust Watch. 36mm stainless steel case, 18K white gold fluted bezel, silver dial, stick hour markers, and Oyster bracelet. List Price: $5,225.00 Is 10% off list price the highest? If not, please advise. I am in love with this watch and must get it. I am also considering NJ if the discount is better. Cheers |

First off Sprite, welcome to TRF, glad to have you hear!!
As far as discounts go, the information varies greatly. Some will tell you that they aren't allowed at all to give discounts. It more depends on the model you are buying, the dealer and your relationship. 10% can be had or sometimes even more. One thing I know, if you can build a good relationship, discounts can be had. At teh same time it never hurts to ask, I have been surprised before. Best of luck and let us know what happnes.

Can't help you there, Sprite, but welcome to TRF. Glad to have you here and I hope you will continue to join in the fun and post often.
At some point, you might want to go to the New Member thread and tell us a little about yourself, maybe even post some pics of your watches.

I actually got 10% off on my Explorer. The best I had ever done was 5%. Daren is right about relationships with the AD. I've bought a lot of watches from mine. Most people get 0% on ss models there.

Welcome to TRF Sprite as for discounts it varies on how good your
negotiating skills are. But dont be afraid to have a go,and if no luck walk away and try another.

Thank you all for the kind words!!!
I am actually just an avid beginner. I used to love Tags, but at some time, my brother in law picked up a Rolex Dj (SS - oyster bracelet) and I just fell in love. Heres a quick intro: I am 28 and have a decent paying job (IT-related guy)(unfortunately not 6 digits but enough to pay the bills and some occassional splurges). In general where do you guys pick up your rolex's? (does everyone just buy it from a store or online)? Anyone ever ordered one online at http://www.swissluxury.com ? |

The best thing to do, in my experience, is either buy from an authorized dealer, or buy used from a known seller off one of the sales forums (like here or Timezone).
You will NEVER save enough money buying new on the net to make it worth not getting a warranty! Cheers and welcome again, Bruce |

Hello Sprite,
And a big welcome to TRF. Your choice of that DJ is a beauty....you do realise that that one will come with new Oyster bracelet with ALL solid links and the new type clasp....very nice and solid!! My advice would be for you to also check out your nearest AD...you could succeed on the discount bit just 'cause it's a DJ and NOT a sports Rolex...and, secondly, you're 100% sure of getting the real McCoy!! Here's a pic of what the new Oyster bracelet looks like... Good luck and keep us posted - JJ

Welcome to the forum!
You may know what I'm about to point out already, so feel free to ignore this but here goes... The image you have shown is the 116234 which is no longer made by Rolex and was replaced by the 126234 (I have this model and I absolutely love it). If you find a 116234 it will likely be a used model which is absolutely fine, but just something you should be aware of. If you are looking for the newer model 126234 (which is the one that ADs will sell now) the retail price is closer to $9k now. Realistically I don't think you would get any discount as they are probably on a waitlist, but there's no harm in asking if something becomes available given the current market. I wouldn't personally go anywhere else apart from an AD for a watch unless it was vintage or no longer made. |
