How Often Do You Wear Your Day-Date?

We all know that the Day-Date is Rolex's iconic top of the range dress watch. They're expensive, precious and easily recognized.

I have a question for any Day-Date owners reading this... do you wear your Day-Date 24/7, 365 days a year or does it live in your safe and only get to see daylight on special occasions? Please share.

I have wondered this myself. I dont actually have a DD but wonder if I did buy one how often Id wear it.
I came to the conclusion it depends on your lifestyle and the area you live in.
I'd love to buy one but know for my lifestyle Id probably wear it very little as its not exactly a watch Id wear with casual clothes around my group of friends. I know people would say who cares what your friends think but if you have friends that are not well off I wouldnt feel comfortable wearing a 20k watch when Im with them. That's just my personal opinion.
But if all my friends were well off and I'd probably wear it everyday =)

The DD/DD2 is my grail.

Couldn't agree more! I feel exactly the same. Especially the yellow gold presidential bracelet, it would make it stand out a mile away. 90% people would recognize what it is, it's simply too risky to wear it 100% of the time as you are going to find yourself in a dangerous situation at some point, particularly in the summer months when you have short sleeves and a watch that sparkles and shines in the sunlight!

I must dis agree, I wear an 18k Daytona 100% of the time, often in the roughest parts of NYC... It has never been an issue, & I only stand 5'9 & weigh 195lbs...

Partly I must agree with your disagreement but what I was thinking wasn't so much to do with the material as much as the actual bracelet. Presidents are 50+ years old and absolutely iconic, they only come in gold or plat and are associated with wealth. I think the design of the bracelet with all the little half moons and polished centre links capture any form of light so easy and they just shine shine shine I love Oyster bracelets too, I have never even seen a gold one in person though (can't wait for the day I do!) but I think that the gold has more of a polished and subtle look to it on them (please correct me if i'm wrong!) and it being an oyster it is more known for being a stainless steel band. I don't know if what i'm saying makes sense lol but basically what I'm trying to say is that side by side, out of the 2 bands with the same material, the president would stand out to more non-WIS people. I personally think.

I have owned both a DD, YM, & Daytona all in 18k yg... None stood out more than the other... Don't worry, you are way more likely to be harmed from the cholesterol in your lunch, than you are from being robbed for you watch... My advice is evergreen, just listen to your instincts, they are seldom wrong... Now go get the DD & enjoy it...

I wear them when I feel like it like any other watch in rotation. It all depends on what mood I am in. If I only had one watch I would wear it every single day--why not.

I don't wear mine as much as I should. However, my all black GMT-II is my absolute favorite watch and that one gets about 95% of my wrist time.

But when I do wear my YG DD, I will wear it with anything, from black tie to jeans. It looks great with both.

Until I got my Sub about 6 years ago, I wore it much more often. Now I wear it when I know I won't be doing much physical activity.

If you're concerned about perception get the 118209 WG or 118206 Pt DD. most people can't tell them apart from a DJ.

Yep that's me too. I wear my dd or sub or SS Daytona for any occasion formal or informal all mine are versatile with any outfit Even when I'm on the motorcycle, at the beach parties club bar work.

If I know I'm going to a rough area though I would wear long sleeve or the datejust instead.

I'm eventually getting a YG DD handed down to me. This is THE Rolex grail for me considering this was the watch that started my fascination with Rolex. When I get it, it will see lots of time in rotation. Something so beautiful was meant to be admired on the wrist.

I wear mine when I'm not doing anything too physical. Sometimes, I actually miss how light my SS Daytona is compared. I like them both equally. And there are some days I just wear the Casio Calculater. Depends on my mood, too.

If I had one I'd wear it quite often! I must say I do the same with my TT DJ even if it looks dressy for some people.

My daydate 18238 was my grail watch from when I first saw one up close at the age of 18 or 19. I gave myself one for my 50th birthday recently and have worn it maybe four times. I have been wearing Rolex sport watches for almost 20 years now but I found found myself feeling a bit ostentatious and self conscious when wearing the watch.

My other problem is that I have a hard time using and enjoying something nice like cars, watches, guns, etc...unless i have more than one example and know there is a pristine one safe and sound somewhere. Ip know its weird but it's probably what got me started collecting the things I collect.

If the Tudor DD counts, I've been wearing mine daily since receiving it back from service. ;)

Mines getting a lot of action, since I just recently purchased it, but it will eventually become part of the daily rotation.
