I just got a sea dweller dial. It has some gunky looking paste or glue on it. I want it off. I tried using a dry q-tip nothing happened, so looking for some help from the smart guys since i have no idea wat to do..thanku all

Can you provide pictures? I'm assuming it's on the dial and not on top of the crystal? Did you open the case, remove the stem, and remove movement from the case yourself?

Yea its on the dial. I bought a replacement and the new dial has dried looking glue stuff on it.

You will have to determine the type of glue you are dealing with before you can attempt to remove it.

Can you do this?

Can you post a close-up picture of the dial?

Are you sure that isn't a dial with crackled original paint?
Some of the gloss dials did that after several years.

Apart from this situation, can a dial be cleaned with a bit of mild soap or the likes to remove fingerprints or other contaminants?

Dials are very difficult to clean if you don't know what you are doing.. any liquids can stain the dial unevenly although mild soap and clean water can work with careful drying.....

Usually you only brush lightly, blow with air, or dab with gum-arabic (brand name Rodico) to remove stuff from dials...

Im gonna try mild soap. Its a new dial i dont know what happened to it, theres no cracks on anything like that, im sorry i cant provide a good pic for it. Will that goo be gone mess the dial up? Thanku all.
