Best Rolex Investment?

What would be the best Rolex to buy now and hold on to purely as an investment?

Have to agree and wearing in good health now thats far more important than thinking of any Rolex watch purely as a investment.Far more better things than watches as investments in this world today.

The Sky dweller is quite the amazing watch! I agree that a watch should be worn and i love my 16800. Just wanted to know if there is that one vintage Rolex.

I think he was joking...

Buy a classic watch you love. Unless your a dealer and are selling a watch that you bought cheap and are looking to sell in 48hrs---I would not recommend buying as investment.

Gold Rolex Presidents ref. 1803 would be a nice option. It does have intrinsic value (Gold).

Afraid what you would have to pay on a real collectible Rolex vintage watch in today's money, its very doubtful if you would get a good return on the price you would have to pay.A possible good buy could be a 14060 with the Tritium dial that could become collectible in the future

You are effectively trying to predict the future which is never a particularly sensible thing to do when dealing with something like a watch since it inevitably involves people's tastes going forward, which continually change.

If you have the money, you can jump straight in and get something that is quite collectable already and quite a lot of collectors start their vintage collections with something like a sports model 1680 or 5512/5513.

But if not, then you're looking for a reference that was not particularly popular when issued (so lower volume) that you think will become popular in the future. There appears to be a lot of interet in acquiring Tudor Snowflake Subs at the moment and prices appear to be on the move...... But who knows and I would never advise anyone to buy for investment but just to wear and enjoy..... You may be lucky....... but clearly the opposite applies

The cheapest nice sport rolex. so the 16570 explorer, no date subs etc. the prices of new keep going up and $3k-3500 for these should keep you ahead down the road. HOWEVER, you should consider annual insurance that like wipes out any gains.

Given your parameters I would go with a 5517, PP DRSD, or JKC. The single Red
Sea-Dweeler would a good one as well.

Be prepared to spend house money on some.

The nicest one you can buy for the amount of money that you have available.
And wearing it everyday.

That's my .02 on investment in a Rolex

I can almost guarantee that buying a second hand solid 18k gold Rolex (inc bracelet) at the best avail price right now will produce a guaranteed return in the next few years purely because of the gold content alone...however an investment in pure gold bullion for the same money will give you an even better return :)
