Whats it worth?
My old boss wants me to buy his SS White Daytona so he can fund a Patek purchase but I’m not sure what a good deal on it would be? I really shouldn’t be buying a watch right now but he has promised to make me a great deal so I have gotten the ok from my soon to be wife.
The watch was purchased new from an AD back in the Spring of 2011. It has the latest clasp and all the goodies. He has kept it in really good shape with nothing but minor scratches from everyday wear. What do you think is a good price for this watch? I feel like it needs to be the deal of a lifetime, otherwise I shouldn’t pull the trigger. |

I don't know much about Daytona prices, but a quick browse of the FS section I thought $8k would be a pretty good deal.

$10k or around there is about what they sell for all day long. IMHO at $9500 its a deal. I have no idea where the previous poster got $7k. I'd buy 5 right now at $7k a peice.

Sounds like spot on advice. At 7k I would take 25 of them

The seller doesn't have a million options, selling it at a Pawn Shop or trading it on the watch he is funding is going to get him what $7,000-$7,500 tops
He could try and E-Bay it or sell it here but he has no feedback and maybe doesn't even have the time nor care to go to those lengths I would say, "hey, I'm getting married, wasn't really in the market, but I talked with the soon to be wife and I can go $8,000 tops"............ then shut up and wait (have cash with you) If you really want to go $500 more, that's up to you, but I wouldn't.... |

$10,000 is going rate. Take off that as you wish for your deal of a lifetime. I personally would say $7k is deal of limetime. If it's not in your budget walk, you said he wants to move it and needs you.

If you can get it under 9k, its already a great deal. 7k-8k could be considered deal of a lifetime consider that its the newer model. Let us know what he end up selling it to you for?

A 2011 SS daytona is considered almost brand new. A brand new one costs 10950 before Tax. If you can snatch it with 9000-10000 is considered fair. If you can get it less than 9k you are very lucky.

Yeah, I was really hoping for around $8000-8500. Only because its my old boss and I know money doesnt mean as much to him and he wants to sell it to me because he knows how much i love that watch.

Anyone else, I'd offer $8000. But best to ask what he's hoping to get and then what his bottom line would be. Personally $9,000 would be my tops.

Ask him what he wants for it, you may be pleasantly surprised and avoid insulting a friend.
