Many vintage Sub aficionado have claimed the long middle "E" in between the lugs is not authentic.
First picture is from auction link. Second picture is of Sub with Short middle "E". |

True, I did not look at the detailed feedback. From my personal experiences, I'd be wary purchasing any off of eBay.

It looks ok to my inexperienced eye, bezel also looks good but not the insert, but the serial looks wrong to me.
If you can expand your findings I would be grateful. |

Second look and I now think the insert looks ok. Hmmm

I'm not sure a 6538 case even has 'Stainless Steel' stamped above the serial number, which to me still looks wrong.

The seller might not be aware that the watch is fake.

6538 models are difficult to find.
6538 4 line Models are extremely rare. However, three of these are now on EBay for sale There are so many fakes around... I would not buy one unless it has been authentified by Rolex head quarters. Please find below a comment from Christies concerning a Rolex 6538 4 lines: "Exhaustive research amongst scholars and international collectors of Rolex sports watches has resulted in the identification of only a handful of examples of the sought-after "OCC" reference 6538 Submariner. It is understood that only in 1956 and 1957, the year of manufacture of the present watch, Rolex added the "Officially Certified Chronometer" designation to this model." |

According to Orchi, as I remember, he has said that there has never been an long "E" case stamped by Rolex.
Stainless Steel wasn't stamped on cases back then? Fakearoo.

I fully agree with Orchi.
I have never seen any long 'E' stamped on a Rolex case. |

A TRF member has asked me to show the difference between a replacement and an original crown or winder.
Please find below a pic of an original crown: Please find below the pic of the replacement crown of the Ebay 6538: Note the perfect alignement between the bezel and the case on the first pic (original watch). |

I don't see why you cannot see the pics.
It works with my PC and Iphone. By the way, one seller retracted yesterday from the auction. I hope it is thanks to TRF |

Two people retracted from the auction.
The bid went from $30k to $25k! Interesting... |
