Rolex President 118235 Worried about Bracelet Authenticity

Hi Guys,
I Recently purchased a used Rolex 118235 i purchased the watch from a private seller who i very much trust. He purchased the watch from a major uk Rolex non authorised dealership who is very reputable and very well known in the uk.
The watch came complete with the box and guarantee papers and everything you would expect from new. The watch also came with full bill of reciept from the original Rolex authorised dealer when bought new back in 2005 as the Rolex Rose Gold Day Date with presidents bracelet is a D serial watch.

There is still a one year guarantee in place from August last year when he purchased it from the Shop.

The situation is that i have nagging doubts about the autheticity of the bracelet it just looks wrong from other day dates i have seen from a clasp perspective. If you look at the clasp it just looks different to the norm.

The bracelet clasp is still stamped 83205 which relates obviously to the Rose gold president but it just looks strange. I know i should of had it properly checked prior to handing over a considerable ammount of money but everything just seemed right. Any advise or thoughts you guys could give me would be great.
Many Thanks Shaun.

Hi,

May I know what exactly makes think that the bracelet is non original....

For the YG version, the newer 118238 bracelet cannot be compared to older 18238 bracelet, as they are totally different....Rolex made their revised version of the President hidden clasp starting from their 118238 models....

So I myself do not see anything wrong with your bracelet....

Hi Syahril,
Thank you so much for your reply. What made me believe is every picture I have found on the Internet with model 118235 has a completely different clasp as can be seen on the top left hand of my picture instead of being solid with Rolex stamped on the inside it has a sought of slit groove which the bracelet clasp then connects. Also the other side of the two clasps as can be seen from the other picture have no markings and are smooth where as other pictures I have seen again look different.

I suppose It could be that the other pictures are intact of the older models and not the new like mine.
Many thanks.

YOur clasp looks fine to me. The attached photos shows the most current, updated clasp. Rolex updated their clasps and bracelets over the last few years. I don't think you have anything to worry about. In fact, you got the best clasp made to date for the Day-Date model. I believe you are comparing your new improved clasp to photos of older models with the older clasp. Enjoy.

If you have a local AD nearby, go in and check out their day-dates for a comparison with yours. Or check out the For Sale board and search for Day-Dates, most of the trusted sellers take multiple detailed photos of their watches.

Hi All,
Thank you so much for all your info and kind words. It does look like that I am comparing to older Day Date models and the relevant websites of the other watches are declaring the new version instead of the older Day Date as most of you have commented.
Sadly due to financial reasons I am not in a position to keep but I did not want to sell the watch whilst I had this nagging doubt.
I will make a serious effort to ensure that I post some more on here as I have been a member for long enough and come on most days. Once again thank you as what you guys don't know is not worth knowing.

First, does the bracelet feel heavy? If yes, then relax. It looks legit and you can't fake the weight.

I have the same model 118235
In F series slightly before your D series
Mine has same exact band with and number and clasp

I think that slot band you are referring too was available in the earlier 118235 models with P and possibility K series.

One thing I noticed however and posted a thread before is the rose gold "formula" Changed sometime where it has a more copper color look.
Almost makes mine look like yellow gold
In comparison

Does yours seem like the color is different too?

Hi All,
Once again I would like to thank you for your input in regards to my post as it has really put my mind at rest. The other night I was awake at 4am still worrying a out the watch and it's potential authenticity. The truth is if I had of been thinking logically there was no way a major reputable UK watch seller would make such a mistake on such a high value item as this. Further to answer a couple of questions that have been asked. The watch weighs like a brick the weight is awesome I can't believe how much extra the gold weighs in comparison to Stainless steel. And secondly yes from a colour perspective the Rose does appear more enhanced than say some Rose Gold Day Dates.
I am having it fully authenticated at the weekend anyway but again a massive thank you to all who were kind enough to express an opinion on this post and to ensure I finally get a decent nights rest.

Not only newer style clasp.
The links are heavier too - a big plus.
