is this real or a fake?
I'm meeting a guy soon who's going to sell me his 2002 Rolex sub for a pretty decent price. The pictures he sent me are here.
As far as I can tell it looks real to me, but sometimes it can be a real good fake. Anyway before i waste my time in meeting the guy, can anyone tell if it real or fake? thanks |

The pics are not very clear, but if I see it correctly, the font is not very good, and the year code on the underside of the clasp seem to be missing (might be the lousy monitor on my working PC, though!).
Also, the cyclops seems odd IMHO. I would say it's a fake, judging from those pics.

Hard to tell from the pictures. For me anyway. I'd make the suggestion to him that you want to have it checked at an AD before you fork over the cash. See how his reaction is. That should give you some indication right there.

Keep one thing in mind...
HE might not even know if it's fake, if in fact it is. So I would not put a whole lot of stake (some for sure) in his reaction. Even if it's a good deal and you feel confident, meet him at an AD or other respected watchmaker to have it independently verified. Regardless of the deal, it's a bad deal if it ends up being fake. |

What is his "pretty decent price"?
If you're thinking of forking over good hard earned cash without verifying it at an AD...

I'll ask him if it's okay we go to an AD and have them check the watch before I buy it.

The pics aren't the best. Hard to pull much detail. I would have it checked first.

so i asked the dealer to meet me so i can check it out. And probably go to an AD to get the watch verified as well. I gave him my # and so far I have not heard from him at all.
