The real thing? Or not?
Spotted this on ebay yesterday when it was bid at a few hundred GBP.
Now it is substantially more than that. I'm no expert but this looks fake to me; here's why: 1. The second hand is fractionally too long. 2. Hologram sticker looks all wrong 3. Alignment of 1000ft/300m text above Superlative Chronometer is wrong 4. height of the hour markers are too tall 5. Crown guards dont look right 6. Box looks cheap and nasty 7. Cyclops bubble looks like it's shot to sh*t Am I right or am I wrong? Answers on a postcard please... If I'm right should this be reported to ebay before someone gets well and truly fleeced? |

I think the crown logo on the winding crown is not done correctly as well.
I think the watch is a replica too and the hour markers dont seem to look accurate for a maxi dial. I say its a replica but other members of TRF will respond and add on their observations...

Ah ok. So, is that too big or too small? Also mine does not have this anyway - presumably this is only on a few models or is not done anymore?

The whole front including bezel looks too bent (not flat enough) as well?

Utter fake. It's GOTTA be bad for me to spot it from a pic! The hands are all wrong, a real LV will have the Maxi-dial hands (extra fat). It is packaged in the wrong box too!
I'm pretty east to fake out in pics, but I've yet to have a fake in my hand go undetected... |

Fake. LEC is way too big and easy to spot, Rolex symbol and three dots on crown look too big as well when compared to what is on my wrist.

I agree, it looks pretty bad . For me to be able to tell its gotta be pretty bad...either that or I'm getting a little better at looking at these watches from my time on the boards. Either way, I would avoid it like the plague.

This is easy, all good points made but the biggest give away is what the replica guys call the "rehaut"... or the "case depth"? The shape of we call "the chapter ring" is conical. It looks like two pieces, not a nice striaght cut ring. That and the thick wrong shaped crown guards give it away. Even if it is modded to correct the CG's, they cannot fix that chapter ring. The sad thing is, most average people will never know what WE as WIS's know.

That thing isn't even close. Also, the last 2 sales he has made, which are the only ones you can see, are for 2.00 pounds each. Now he sells a Rolex.

Check the deep notch on the secure clasp opening. Way too exaggerated.
Here's the real thing....so that one's gotta be a fake!!
