worth a trip to local watch repair?

My Rolex is under warranty. I sent it to Dallas because it was running fast and they did a complete service.
Several weeks later, still running fast. Approx 12 seconds per day.
I saw on this forum a recommendation for Tom Doan in San Diego. Wonder if I should visit him and ask him to test it for a second opinion. I know where this is headed - watch back to Dallas and being w/o it for several weeks....disappointing.

I would take it to an AD for a simple regulation. No need for a service if it's a bit fast.

I don't doubt what you say, but it is highly unusual for RSC to do a complete service for a watch that is simply running fast...

Never-the-less, if true, and you still have the exact same issue, I would question how you are determining the problem. ?

I would also wonder what/where your watch is daily that it may be under some electric/magnetic influences..

Further though, any watchmaker can put the watch on a vibrograph and tell you exactly what the beat rate/variance of your watch is and adjust it within an hour or so...

I wear my watch daily for approx 10 hours.
Rolex CS told me since they could not find the origin of the problem, they were doing a complete service. I wasn't there to witness it but that's what they said.
They way I calculate the time is by looking at the time on timeanddate.com website, comparing my watch time daily and dividing my number of days.

I'm not intending to have a local watchmaker open it, just though it might be helpful to have them verify that it's fast and not magnetized.

Take a drive up to the Beverly Hills RS Center and ask to have it regulated and checked to see if it's been magnetized...Have lunch somewhere and they should be able to get it into COSC specs.....

I guess your AD doesn't have a watch tech on staff ?

I wouldn't send it back again to Dallas. Head to BH for the day...

My AD doesn't have a repair person onsite...and even if they did, they won't open it when it's under wty. Driving to Beverly Hills.....could be a possibility.

Because its still under warranty I don't think I would send it to an independent shop.
I agree with you that it's disappointing to be without your watch while RSC looks at it. Especially since you already had them service it. There really isn't any excuse for it to not be within spec after they looked at it.
I assume you bought this from an AD. If that's correct I'd go back to that AD and see if they can regulate it in their shop. Regulation is a very simple procedure that is quick to do. If you didn't buy it from an AD perhaps you can go to one and pay, if necessary, for them to do it in-house. I'd rather pay a modest fee and have it back in an hour than to send it in a second time.

You'll invalidate the warranty the moment it's opened by anyone but RSC. I'd live with it or get it regulated by one of the RSCs if you're ever nearby - takes less than an hour.
