non-COSC vs. COSC on the 14060
Will you guys go for a non-COSC dial 14060 Sub or a COSC dial version?
Is it just a personal preference or am I missing something? thanks! |

It's the same watch so it comes down to preference.

Go for the 4-liner. Less out there than 2-liner and 4-liner G-or Random Series with parachrome will be a perfect investment as you see already prices are rising...

Don't believe the hype. Parachrom is mostly marketing propaganda and there are too many modern 14060Ms for them to ever be investment grade.

Hype worked on 16710 with 3186 movement, 16610, 16600, 16570 is as well going up...tell me a better investment with lower risk...

The problem with hype is that it always comes crashing down eventually. Watches are a HORRIBLE investment but you're more than welcome to liquidate your retirement funds if you believe otherwise.

Nothing to stop other 4-line 14060m getting parachrome at future servicing by Rolex, if the hairspring required to be replaced. The belief that late-productions with parachrome are rare exclusives is probably misplaced.

FWIW, my non-COSC sub runs better than COSC spec. I am happy with that

I am more drawn to the balance and simplicity of the non-COSC.

Don't think you can go wrong with either, I will be picking up my 4 line on Saturday personally I love the engraved rehault on the later models.

It's possible that the 4 line may catch collectors eyes in a couple of decades, making this one a "potential" for slightly higher values then..
Until that time comes, if ever, it's personal preference..

Look at the price developement of rolex watch list-prices in the last decades. Have the prices ever dropped down? Has rolex ever decreased their prices?
Prices for new sealed ones in Europe have already gone up with releasing the new 114060...and this will probably go on. Look at the price developement of NOS 16600 in the last few years since it was disontinued, then everything is said... Same with NOS 16710 and so on... |

Regardless, let's not hijack the OP's thread. I'm sure the general community would love to chime in on a "watches as investment" thread if you'd like to continue the discussion. |

No prob, is it a crime to see a watch as an investment?? I´ve watches to wear and watches to invest (especially discontinued models), so what´s the problem to combine both aspects? Should I´ve a bad conscience about that? Why? Let´s end this discussion...

Both are great. A non-cosc 14060 will still run within cosc specs, many will say cosc certification is marketing. All the movements run within that spec when properly regulated, do you need the extra two lines on the dial to confirm? I wanted a new one under warranty so my only choice was 14060M. Both are symmetrical and clean. 14060M does have rehaut engraving if you like that, as well as that blue spring. I cannot speak to the investment future, but you cannot go wrong with either one!

can't agree more with kilyung, Rolex price increase gave this "secure" feeling to those who already own it, lets not forget that everything tends to go up in prices, other watch brands too..
watches as good investment is not really accountable and tangible, I guess not everyone can say they made profits after selling watches that they have worn for years or even months. its just this good feeling that we made a good purchase with a brand that remains "high-end" and "valuabe" in our social circle. just buy what u desire the most, what will make your collection even more subtle and you know it will look good sitting on your wrist. that will the best invesment. |

I had a 5513 and a 14060 2 liner, I've always preferred that look on the ND sub, but either way there are plenty on the market. Once you've decided on which version you are going for its more important to get one in good condition that's been looked after.

If there is indeed less 4 liners out there and you really care about gaining $1k to $3k in 50 years...
Personally buying watches as an investment is never a great idea. If it was me though, I would get the 4 liner. Reminds me of the 5512, and if history repeats itself... it has a better chance of being more valuable if ya care about that sort of thing. |

I prefer the 2-liner. Simpler, cleaner, and it doesn't look like a sub-date without the date.

I like the four-line better but I'm biased...
If four lines was cool enough for Steve McQueen on his 5512 it's cool enough for me on my 14060m.

Mine is a random serial bought 2 months ago from an AD.
I've no idea whether it has a parachrome spring. I'm not sure that I'm bothered either.

I have a brand new 4 liner, although I prefer the non COSC version. But I can live with it. As for the parachrome,I'm really not bothered.
