Overall, what would you rather have? DSSD or Sub
As some of you may know I have been toying with the idea of trading my SS DJ, my U Serial 1998 Sub and cash for a brand new DSSD. I love the DSSD, I had one on and really liked it, the key to the trade is my sub, without it the AD is not interested int he trade, I had thought about keeping my sib and just adding more cash to the deal.
So, overall, should I keep my Sub and forget the DSSD, or make the trade and maybe get a newer Subc later down the road? I do like my Sub a lot and it was the first sub I bought, but the DSSD is a sweet watch. I know this is subjective to each persons taste, but I am curious to see what you all think.

Well I like both.
From your post however, it's pretty clear that you do want to do it. |

I do want the DSSD, but I guess there is some attachment to the sub since it was the first sub I ever bought.

Then again I think having the DSSD and a Sub isn't a smart way to use your money because they look the same. The only reason I can think to have two Subish watches would be if one looked completely different. Like a black/green SubC then a YG Sub with blue dial and bezel. I know a lot of people on here own several subish watches. I've seen a picture of a Sub, Subc, SD, DSSD and GMTIIc in the same collection. I don't understand collecting like that because they all look so similar to most people and you've spent the equivalent of a Patek on more watches which look the same. Just to be clear when I say "look the same" I mean two SS dive watches with black bezel and dial. From afar with and from a non-WIS they will look the same. Better to get some variety in imo. The most important thing is people like their collections though so each to ones own. |

Imo sell privately, buy the DSSD or Submarimer C with cash and hold out for a discount, especially on the DSSD.
Whenever one trades the ADs get you at both ends, just like trading in a car, you have no power. Eliminate the trade aspect and you have the upper hand. Just my two cents and no offence to ADs, they have to make a living too. Best case senario keep the classic Submariner, sell the DJ and save for the Ceramic model of your choosing. The DSSD may be too heavy and large for a one and only, but many members pull it off no problem. Good luck with whatever you decide. |

Keep your 16610. That sentimental attachment that you mentioned will bother you more than you might think if you sell it. Save for the DSSD if you feel you have to have it...

The 16610 is an iconic classic, I think you would get tired of the DSSD everyday, after the newness wore off....

I just traded in my TT Bluesy Sub on a DSSD.
If it's your everyday, keep the Sub, if its an option, go DSSD. |

I'm a bigger guy as well - 6'1" and over 200lbs. I don't mind the size at all, and would have no problem wearing it as a daily. The only challenge is that due to its height, it doesn't fit well under my dress shirt sleeves. Also, its a bit flashy due to its size, and even though my work watches cost more, they seem more subtle....

Sub for me...I tried on the DSSD a few times and can't get over how top heavy it is. My AP ROO is a lot more comfortable.

Deep Sea is amazing, love the diameter compared to a regular sub. It's about 1-2 mm to thick, but I still love it

Don't get rid of the Sub. You're already regretting it and you haven't done the trade yet!

Range of opinions here, as expected. I love both. I was planning to sell my TT sub to fund the DSSD but couldn't pull the trigger for sentimental reasons, so I ended up with both in the end and I'm so glad I did, as I love both for slightly different reasons.

I'm not good at these--too personal a decision to offer or ask advice on.
Good luck with your decision. |

If a SubC, I prefer the DSSD. If a 16610, the Sub.

I prefer the blue TT Sub before a DSSD but a DSSD over any other Sub. Good luck!
