Talk me down before I make an impulse purchase.

I am almost positive this is a bad idea… I have wanted a blue 16613 for the last 3+ years and have had several dealers on the lookout for the past 6 months. A Breitling AD called me yesterday and had just received a 16613 (form 1999) on trade so I went down to have a look. I got there about 15 min before closing so didn’t have long to really go over it, but the bracelet was tight and it came with all links. I would say the condition of the watch was very good, however the diver extension will not stay locked in place. There are no service records so I have no idea when the last (if ever) service was, so my first act would be to send it to RCS Dallas. My dilemma is it has the non-SEL bracelet and they are asking $5400 plus the cost of service I would be in it approximately $6500. I think I should hold out for a newer non lughole model with SEL, but the temptation to have this beautiful watch is overwhelming. What do you guys think?

I'd hold out. Lawrence and David have them listed for sale.

Price is definitely too high... Better condition and newer for less right here on TRF IMO

Look in the FS section before deciding to pull the trigger.

How much shopping around have you done already?

I would recommend you take your time and get something you're completely happy with.

I knew it was a bad idea I just needed confirmation. I have a hard time buying online as I like to see it and inspect it thoroughly, but I know it’s probably the best way. I have seen several nearly perfect examples with all boxes and papers in the FS section. I guess the hunt will continue. Thanks guys.
