Off to Bermuda...
Ok, so after 36 hours (and counting) of no power in the DC area, Mrs. 251 and I are off to Bermuda for a few days of R&R, no heatwaves and drinks with little umbrellas in them...
All of my watches begged for a spot on the trip but Mean Joe Green made them all go sit in a corner. So now they're all sulking while Mean Joe is hulking... ;) Will post more MJG adventure pics if I can keep it all together technically. Too many devices tagging along, if you know what I mean... |

Made it... Big fun so far, if only because we got away from it all.
View from the highway, which is wide enough for about two golf carts... I swear, everything Google knows about Bermuda, it learned from this taxi driver. This man really loves his life and his enthusiasm is contagious. Not just another balcony over a hotel pool, it's Bermuda. Everywhere you look there seems to be something to stare at and enjoy. Spent some time at the beach bar making a plan for tomorrow. Will probably head to town to explore, maybe even look at a few timepieces, but don't expect much shopping (subject to change according to Mrs. 251...) Got a spare $20M laying around? Low and behold, at the beach bar I spot an Aquanaut in the wild! It's the first one I've seen besides my own... Crazy... Mrs. 251 wants to climb this "mountain" tomorrow. Trust me, she's not climbing this rock. Cool though... And lastly, for today, here it is... A Piña Colada that I snarfed down this afternoon. Unremarkable by itself, it's the first alcohol I've had in years. Don't know why I did it - probably the Ben & Jerry factor. All I know is that Mrs. 251 really likes it when I chew through my leash. Yea that's it. Woof! About the only thing I have to add is that this "tapatalk" app is soon tedious it's painful if you have anything more to say that WTG or WooHoo... Get my drift? Later. Best. Jim. |

Those are some nice views. I like that beach scene from the road, there's gonna be a lot of looking going on. Mean Joe Green must be having quite a fun time in Bermuda.

Eddie and I are working on hooking up so it's a "maybe."
Yesterday was Mrs. 251's birthday. We started with a run on what turned out to be hills so steep we were defeated. Nice views, though, and here we're a couple of cruise ships in the pattern for landing... Here was our path, about 1/2 mile of it carved (blasted?) out of limestone... Here is a terraced, limestone roof on a private home. It channels rainfall to underground cisterns that are the source of all clean water in Bermuda... Hillside residences have crazy great views... Waterfront homes in all shapes, sizes, even colors... The door handle to the downtown jewelry store. The Rolex factor was disappointing as it was all cruise-ship-passenger oriented. Few sport watches but a million lady-DJs. The Patek dealer was a different story, except they didn't have the one I've been looking for (actually good news since it was my wife's birthday, not mine...) I'm back to my tea. No more Piña Coladas. Maybe ever... ;) Here was the view from my seat at the dinner table. Give my lovely wife some wine, add some crashing waves and all will be well in the universe. Not that it isn't already... she's awesome... Got the message late that power is restored to my home. It was just you run of the mill 72-hour outage. That means we'll return tomorrow with no need for the "plan-B" we were cooking up. Later. Best to all. Jim. |
