My guitar effects!

Greetings TRF,

Since I've had this idea of doing some videos for you guys I thought that it would be interesting to give you a little tour of the effects I use when I play on my guitars (or, at least, the ones I use the most). Now before you take a look at them I'd like to warn you about a couple of things:

- I do have an accent and I make some mistakes when I speak, please take this in consideration as there's a lot of uuhhh... due to the fact that English isn't my main language, hence the hesitation I have sometimes when I want to explain something.

- I am repeating myself a lot! Doing seperate videos is probably the cause of such a problem and I will try to improve that in the future but in the mean time please accept my big load of repeated words.

- Feel free to comment and give me your impressions about both my reviews and the whole concept of posting videos. I think it could be a good idea but I do not want to keep doing this if people find it annoying so your comments are as appreciated as necessary!

- Those videos have been recorded in my basement and the sound is probably not the best one. I do not have such a fancy set up and I apologize for any inconvenience regarding the audio part of those videos.

Enjoy!

Dunlop Cry Baby 535Q Wah Pedal

Dunlop Octavio Distortion Pedal

Marshall Regenerator Multi-effect Pedal (V Vibe)

Marshall Regenerator Multi-effect Pedal (Flanger)

Marshall Regenerator Multi-effect Pedal (Phaser)

Marshall Regenerator Multi-effect Pedal (Chorus)

Moog Theremin

Thank you for watching!

Great post Carl but your sound is more Vai'ish than bluesy.

Eruption. Dilemma style. TOO MUCH REVERB, but I was just noodling. (One glaring mistake, but I was just sorting this out when I recorded it with my iPhone)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGRvG1QSGog

The guitar is a Ibanez RG450DX, Fender amp, TOO MUCH REVERB, a touch of delay, and the MXR Phase 90 for the EVH sound.

I'm afraid I can't watch videos on this computer but I'm looking forward to hearing that thing!

I was finally able to take a look at your video, that was very impressive! You seem to play this like it's nothing, thank you for sharing!

Thanks. Not my best version, but it was the one I captured that day.

pretty cool and informative! you should tailor it to the general youtube audience, who will find it more useful, as opposed to the TRF audience who will find it 'cool'. also, can u post an entire song....like using a loop box or something? sounds great!

Maybe I'm the only one here, but I didn't even know there was such an instrument as a Theremin, but can I tell you that I recognized its sound immediately as the one used in the Led Zeppelin song Whole Lotta Love from so many years ago.

Very cool Carl..... Keep on rockin my friend..... Love the wah pedal With distortion ......

I used to use mainly MXR pedals back in the day and mainly overdrive, distortion and a little chorus to warm it up......

Thank you for the suggestion but in all honesty TRF is the only place where I share things I have a passion for, therefore I prefer to keep those videos private and post them on the forums. If people find something informative and interesting in them then I will be happy!

As for a complete song, I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean. Do you mean posting well known songs that contain those effects?

Thank you Steve, I must admit I do not know those MXR pedals, perhaps I should do a little research on them. Personally I rarely use those effects myself, I've bought them because I am sometimes in a mood for a special sound but I mostly use the overdrive, the wah pedal and sometimes the vibe effect.

That's much appreciated guys, feel free to give me suggestions for more videos! I'm also thinking about showing the options on my amp and the two distortion pedals I have (with more details regarding the sounds you can get out of them).

Great vids Carl. Always enjoy them.

Hope you remember to turn your Theremin off at night. If you get out of bed and walk past that in the middle of the night you will get almighty fright.

Thank you Steve, I'm not in any band but I do enjoy playing with my brother (he has a drum set) and a friend of mine plays bass guitar from times to times. Still, I play alone most of the times.

Thank you Wes, funny you should mention that though because sometimes I forget it but it's never for a long time since you can hear a kind of wavy sound even when you're not getting close to it. I think your idea could make a rather good prank though...

Those were awesome gadgets you have, mate! Thanks for the demo! I personally use only a wah and whatever my Marshall has to offer. I have the same dunlop that you have! Oh yes, I do have a voice box that I use once in a while!

Theremin was used by the Beach Boys in
Pet sounds album.
I have a old Leslie guitar amp that sounds great when it works....right now its broke....again.
It really gives that spinning sound.
I use a Cube and Fender Princeton Reverb amps....my fav.
All my guitars are Fender.....Im a Fender guy what can i say.
You really got the Zep sound down.
Post some more stuff.....lots of guitar players on the forum

Thank you! That Wah pedal is just too wonderful to be left alone and although I sometimes unplugged some pedals to replace them by others (I'm missing a couple of jacks around here...) this one never leaves the front line!

Marshall have great sound and perks too, I'm quite liking them! As for the voice box, I must say I've never got really interested into getting one, I do hope you have fun with yours though!

Too bad the Leslie amp is broken, I hope you get it fixed soon as it's a very nice effect.

Thank you for your kind words as well, I'll try to post more videos and I hope you'll do the same! I'm afraid I only have Gibson and Epiphone guitars though, I like Fender axes but the sound isn't really for me.
