Did Rolex just flood the market with LV Subs?

Hi, I'm a new poster to this site. I just got married last month, and my wonderful wife thought it would be nice to get me a new watch for a wedding gift, so I immediately keyed in on the only watch I ever fell in love with on site (well, actually in a picture) - the LV sub. I live in Boston and started looking at all the ADs in town and they kind of chuckled at me whenever I asked if they had any LV Subs in stock. I started looking at the Grey market but was hesitant to go that route. I had given up hope of finding one and was going to settle for a regular sub date when a week before our wedding I went to the same ADs again and one of them had just received one that day! I was jubilant and immediately made the purchase. I wear the watch every day and could not be more happy with it.

For our honeymoon, we went on a Mediterranean cruise which was awesome (I'll post some pictures of my Kermit soon). In Santorini, Greece the AD there had an LV Sub in the window (they also had an SS GMTII in the safe but the exchange rate is so bad that even with a discount it was still more than the Grey market price). In Rome, an AD also had one in the window. I thought that maybe it just wasn't as popular of a watch in Europe. Then I returned to Boston, and in the last two weeks, I have seen 3 separate ADs with LV Subs on display, and the place I bought mine from already has another one in their safe.

I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed the same phenomenon. I don't really care because I bought my Kermit because its still my favorite watch I've ever seen, but I'm just surprised to see so many around after it was so hard to get for so long.

Sorry for the long post. I'd also like to thank everyone that posts on here. It's such a wonderful source of information for newbies like me.

Welcome 55,

A Sub can last you the rest of your life... I think more are being seen just because they have made so many the market is finally reaching equilibrium.

Here's the only kermit I have:

A friend of mine saw an LV on display at an AD...the first time he has seen one on display. There are those who say that the flood is an indication that it will be discontinued soon. Who knows. The reality is the LV is still unique and you're still less likely to see one in the wild compare to a standard sub. So just enjoy wearing what you have.

Welcome to TRF!

I believe it is only a question of natural market fluctuations. Sometimes, certain Rolex models seem to hit the market in greater numbers than at other times.

Like the SS Daytona: It seems that it is easy to get now, but just wait a few months, and market will be short of them again.

Perhaps now that you have one you just notice them more, like when you fancy a new model of car, etc etc.

Funny story: i knew the LV was rare so i entered the local AD here in Ibiza without hopes.
I ask for the LV and they immeditly say: nope thats really rare we dont have it. I let them show the other watches to me and then they tell me they DO have an LV. I bought it the next week and noticed it was a z series from may 06 (if we follow the bracelett theory).
They had it there for maybe a year or a little less and nobody had bought it, maybe caus they thought they didnt even have one, HAHA!

Thank you all for your replies. I just thought it was interesting because it was less than a month from the time all the ADs laughed at me for asking them for an LV Sub to them all having Kermits in their windows.

Anyhow I'm really enjoying my Kermit. Unfortunately, I think it's the start of a very expensive addiction.

Funny story. I just walked into an AD this evening. I saw the salesman eye my LV Sub as I walked by and he immediately made an excuse and ditched the couple he was assisting and followed me to the Rolex section.

They're still pretty hard to get in my area, though on various fora people report seeing one at an ADs. Still, compared to the black a lot less LVs have been introduced into the system.
