Last Night Dallas GTG!!!
We had a small group for dinner in the wineroom of a cajun seafood joint in Dallas last night! Beaumont Miller (John), Springer (John), Bewithabob (Bob), an office friend (Mike) and yours truly. Drinks, seafood and stunning, collector grade watches.
Our treasure trove included (sorry for the bad pics - the lights were horrible and I was working the wine pretty hard John (Beaumont, pic #1 on the right) - gilt, chapter ring, exclamation point 5513 (stunner...), Gold 1680, MF 5512, 1610 nearly NOS - the bracelet clasp was so tight, I did not want to put it on my wrist, 1665 Great White John (Springer, pic #2 on right) - 1982 Tudor Big Block, 1675 on a Jubilee with meaty case, bevels and lugs, Beaumont tried not to let Springer know he liked it but wore it half the night - thereby eliminating any negotiating advantage he may have had , TT Zenith Daytona, random 14060 Bob (pic #1 on the left) - came late and stayed late and brought his white gold meteorite dial Daytona - it weighs 2 pounds - the dial under a loupe is outrageous - a special watch Mike - a non Rolex friend I am converting to the darkside - brought a gorgeous Pam and IWC chrono diver - both large, chunky beautiful watches. Mike had Springers 14060 on his wrist 1/2 the night Me - GMT-C, 5513 MF, a sweet 1970s Glashutte and a special pocketwatch. Great time, thanks for reading |

Great pics and wonderful watches! It is nice to put some faces with names. A legend has been unmasked:Beaumont Miller. I definitely owe John a drink or ten for all his insight and advice.

What a great evening. No one really understands watch guys like other watch guys. Put 5 WIS in a wine room for four hours and you would be surprised at the watch stories, life stories, and knowledge shared. For myself, small events like this increase the joy and pleasure of the hobby and take it to another level. Russ you are a gracious host. Thanks for taking care of the details. Do you think I weakened my "hand" with Springer? Mike I am sure our paths will cross in the future. I look forward to toasting TRF and the people it has brought together.

This evening was a like great novel. A page turner for sure, written by a great assembly of WIS. I have never heard so many wonderful watch chapters! What a pleasure! (too bad, missing from the photos is Russ who was busy toggling the camera). We enjoyed hours of good laughs and stories while gazing at some truly beautiful, classic stunners. Seeing them all, reclining together, as a great troupe on the table with cases and watch boxes all around was overwhelming. Passing them about with a chance to examine these great examples up close, under a loop, holding them, taking them for a short ride on your wrist was a trip to the moon. No casualties on the affair, but I believe Mike was completely infected with a ROLEX craving by evening's end. And my own enthusiasm for the classics has been completely fanned by this fabulous company (not to mention that enormous Grey Goose martini glass that had been twice emptied by the time photo#1 was taken). Nice after effects. Now I just had to explain this to Sharon when I got in- her first question- "did you buy me a watch?" More great WIS times for us together are sure to come.

Hi All - PLEASE read Beaumont Miller and Bob's 2 posts carefully - they graciously define what our passion and this forum can be. PLEASE make the effort to attend or better yet, organize a GTG in your town. The personal experience from sharing our passion and meeting with others is so special |
