I don't see this as the biggest issue. It's a disposable band - rolex or not. Once someone wears a leather band it's value drops to 0 - regardless of who makes it. This one looks to be an ok watch, with a recent service.

The seller has correctly advised it is on an aftermarket band in his listing. Consider his price as if you're buying head only - the aftermarket band can be changed out or left off if you like.

When aftermarket is used to describe an item on the forum I have always taken that to mean not a Rolex made item.
Anything with the Rolex logo or name on is therefore counterfeit.
If I am right then the watch in question has the logo on the Buckle and Rolex on the inside, and could be described as counterfeit.
If this watch was on ebay it would be in the watch out section for this reason!
Of course I could be wrong!!!

The seller has provided full dislcosure. What is the problem here?

There is none. Its the equivilant to someone selling a Panerai head with a nice leather band to use. 100% okay.

A simple question from a Newbie, is a disclosure of a counterfeit item acceptable in this Forum ?

Al, the band is counterfeit. That is the problem. Full disclosure or not the band is still counterfeit plain and simple.

IN MY OPINION, his disclosure that watch has aftermarket band is okay. A leather band is considered a 'consumable'. or an item easily and quickly used and/or replaced. The thing I have issue with, is that if said band is made by someone other than ROLEX, and it has ROLEX insignia or the WORD Rolex on it, that is copyright infringement and considered counterfeit. IMO.

I would be perfectly ok with this. Straps don't last forever and it is not unusual to keep the hardware and get some other type of strap.

The listing has been removed.

The band is not aftermarket ... It is fake as it has "rolex" stamped into it.

This is against Trf rules. We do not accept any fake parts.

Is the band embossed with the Rolex brand, or is it just a Rolex buckle? The post isn't available anymore.

This is so not a problem in my eyes what so ever. I dont see how the band is counterfit at all. Its not claiming to be from Rolex. If thats not acceptable than i guess all nato straps shouldnt be allowed to be sold with Rolex's either

Edit didnt know the band had Rolex stamped into it. The prosecution dismisses all charges

The band has "Rolex" embossed into it. There is no confusion or blurred lines here.

It was posted as 'aftermarket' when it is in actual fact a 'fake'.

I am waiting for an explanation via PM from the seller.

Depending on that we will decide on any further action.

Let me remind everyone that if you knowingly post any fake parts on this forum we will have zero tolerance.
