RSC only option for Sea Dweller crystal?

Hey Everybody,

Is the best possible option to replace just a scratched SD crystal via RSC Dallas/NY? Watch is under 5 years old and is perfect besides the freaking crystal(once you see it )

Seems like such a pain when every other model, minus a DSSD, can have crystal replaced on site by professional. The whole 4000ft pressure test thing...

Might have to trade it out for a Sub or Exp...

If the scratch is minor myself would just wait to normal service time have it replaced then as part of service then no extra labour costs.Or you could try some diamond paste that will remove superficial scratches from sapphire crystals. And most high street watchmakers could pressure check to 200m plus, if watch passes that test it will be fine for all normal water activities including scuba.

Thanks for the suggestions Padi! Do you think diamond paste is worth a shot? Everything else is awesome with the watch and is running 5+sec on my wrist. I'm scared I might jack it up with the paste.

I have used 3 micron to remove the main scratch going across the scratch first, now it takes a fair bit of elbow grease. You just want a tiny bit on a cloth like a spectacles cloth or similar. Then just a fine polish after with the quarter micron, and scratch will be gone, and good as new. Cost for the two tubes in the UK around £15 expect cheaper out of the UK.And far cheaper than a new crystal takes a bit of time, but if scratch is very deep then should replaced, and please do not get to anal about a second or so out of 86400 in a day your watch is fine..
