My GMT finally arrived!

I purchased a pre-owned N-Series GMT 16710 Coke in mid June from my local AD. They sent it to the NYC RSC for service and it took a LONG 6 weeks to get it back but today I finally received it. I can't be happier. It looks brand new!

I do have a couple questions. The RSC put a new bezel on it and it is very difficult to turn the bezel, almost to the point where it feels like it is completely stuck. I managed to turn it a full 360 degrees but it was a bit of a struggle. I called the AD back and they said this is normal since the bezel is new and that it will loosen up slightly with time. Is this true?

Also I have small wrists (6.25") and the AD was having all sorts of problems sizing the bracelet. When they sized it to the appropriate fit, the clasp would not fall on the center of of my wrist, so short of having to send the bracelet back to the RSC, they changed the orientation of the bracelet (i.e. instead of the clasp facing north, they made it face south). For some reason this worked and now the clasp is in the middle of my wrist.

I preferred having the clasp point north since that is what I'm used to but I can live with it.

If Rolex overhauled your watch and put a new bezel on it then it should turn like sweet butter if butter clicked as you turned it!!!!!!!!!!!

Have them fix it. Something is wrong. Maybe the bezel is "partially" off. Try making sure it is on by applying equal pressure all around the bezel?

definitely theres a problem with the bezel.....after service it should turn smoothly & without so much effort....maybe the AD just dont want to conduct an after service for free that is why he reasoned like that.....

If the AD sent the watch to RSC it has a 2 year warranty. I would contact the RSC directly.

That watch surely looks new! Congrats!

The bezel should not be too hard to turn, as have been said.

And when it comes to the bracelet, one option is to remove a fixed link. I have done that on several occasions. I do this on 40 mm models, but the standard layout works fairly nice for me on 36 mm models.

Do a search on the forum and you will find several posts on how to do this.

seeing pictures of a bright shiny 'new' one makes me hanker for going all nostalgic.....

and reminds me of selling mine about 6 years back for about £1400..... now I wish i'd kept her!!!! if I replace it now its at least twice that for a decent one now.

I would get it back to the RSC to have the bezel fixed properly. Even better, take it in yourself if at all possible, then they can sort out the braclet for you as well

Congrats...she's a real beauty! I would say the inner bezel is above the click spring or something: or the bezel is not on all the way. Check around the 12 o'clock region as this is where the click spring resides. Also, does it rotate both ways? It should move pretty easily in the counterclockwise direction and just a tad stiffer going clockwise.

Oh yah it sounds like the clickspring is jamming under the teeth inside the bezel. It happened with mine. Bezel needs popping off and the spring aligning in the teeth. It's harmless and an easy fix for a watch tech found in the back rooms of many jewellers and watch specialists. Don't force anything. Good luck.

congrats! i got mine back two weeks ago from rsc, too. i have a small wrist, ~6 inches, and i dislike having to flip the orientation of the bracelet. so i have a permanent link from the 6 o'clock side removed. it works!
