Icon20 I made a decision........

and the winner was the Explorer II 42mm.

I have considered buying this watch for quite some time now, but I had to see the new DJ II's with the smooth bezels first in person. They are great watches but the Explorer II has been the main watch on my list for a long time, ever since they first made it to AD's.

I thought I was done with Rolex after my Sub C, I sold it because I was not a fan of the case and the shine of the ceramic insert. I sold it and purchased another 14060, my 3rd, I thought it was a keeper. I really don't even know how many Rolex sport watches I have owned over the years. I have owned multiple Subs, Sub Dates, a LV sub, a Sub C, both of the old Explorer II's, multiple GMT II's, a GV on and on.........I don't even want to start on other brands, the list goes on and on.

Now back to the new Explorer II's, I find them perfect. Perfect case design, perfect matte dial, perfect clasp, {I love how it is smaller than my old Sub C's clasp}, great lume, I love the hands, I love the orange, I love it.

This just might put a end to my nasty flipping habit, I hope anyway. I sold my Sub a week and a half ago, my one week old Omega AT 8500 this week and my IWC today. What else was a WIS to do, I had to run to my local AD and get a new watch.

I managed to get what I feel is the perfect fit, and with the half link hidden in the clasp, I can always easily flop it out when my wrist swells, awesome. I actually think I get a better fit from the Explorer II than my old Sub C. That clasp filled up the entire anterior part of my wrist, I found it uncomfortable.

I considered buying a used one to save a few hundred bucks, but I want my name on the papers. For some reason, buying from a AD with my name on the papers is the complete experience, it is important to me for some reason. When someone else's name is on the papers, the watch just never feels like it is mine, and it gives me another reason in my silly head to flip. I also like that my AD sends me a appraisal, makes it easy and quick to insure.

Anyway, some quick pics of my newest, and probably my last watch purchase. I am very content with this watch and I hope it lasts a lifetime, I am tired of buying and selling all the time.

Introducing the best modern day Rolex on the market.

Congrats and it sure is an amazing piece! My AD out here had both the black and white dial versions on display and while I went with the white, they both looked amazing on display.

Looks great on your wrist. Size is perfect. I went for white to contrast my sub, but black is a stunner! Congrats on a beautiful modern classic

Nice one Trev.

Good to see you moved up the 3185 - 86 - 87 scale.

Remember it's only a spring.

Thanks for the replies!

Confession time....... I had a horrible night sleep because I kept waking up to look at the lume on my nightstand, is that pathetic or what.

You are always good for a laugh Eddie. By the way, mine has the 3287, there was one made so mine is a true collectors piece.
