Diamond Bezel on Ladies DJ
I have a friend who has a ladies TT DJ and she wants a diamond bezel. She's happy with her watch, but wants to upgrade, her words not mine. Can anybody tell me her options? I've seen some after market companies who make diamond bezels, but I'm concerned about the quality of both the bezel and diamonds. What are the other options? Buying one from Rolex? Having a jeweler install diamonds in existing bezel?

Here is her newest DJ she got about a year ago with the Rolex bezel. Her aftermarket bezel looks practically identical but has slightly larger diamonds. Sorry I don't have a pic of the aftermarket bezel. |

Aftermarket bezels often don't fit precisely. So her waterproof Oyster case mightn't be waterproof.
Figure she has a fluted bezel, right? That isn't a good foundation for drilling and setting diamonds. Could look really bad an then she's out the cost + looking for a new bezel. Don't know her model #, but if it didn't originally have a diamond bezel option, then RSC won't add one. Maybe best thing is to source a good DJ - one already with the diamond bezel - and then sell the old one.

Rolex only came out with a diamond bezel on a TT Ladies DJ about a year ago. They wont add a diamond bezel to a watch that wasn't available that way from the factory. The only configuration is 179383 with the gold crystal dial. In the past only solid gold watches had the diamond bezel as an option. Also the 179383 is about a $6-7k up charge from a normal TT DJ without a diamond bezel.

That's terrible! I stand corrected, and I am sure as others have said it can be done right by somebody other than rolex. I was too quick in my response |

I just fell in love with the TT DJ with diamond bezel, but I just can't justify the price brand new. How easily can these be found preowned?

Diamond dials can be found all over the place. Honestly I've never seen an authentic diamond bezel for sale. First only a VERY small percentage of DJs come with them and I would guess only a few thousand Rolex 179383 have been made at most. IMHO the only option is a high quality aftermarket bezel.

Can the bezel be switched out? If I buy TT DJ with fluted bezel, so I just buy a separate bezel and switch it out?

Can an after market bezel be easily switched out and replaced? Also how much does a really good after market bezel cost? for midsize 31?

Thousands??? the authentic rolex bezel is about 6.5K. Thats the difference between a tt with a reg bezel and one with a diamond bezel (9kvs 15K). I was hoping a good one would cost in the 1.5k range.
