Rolex Image Question?
I was checking on watches on eBay and came across some images from a seller I thought I remembered seeing on RF. Does this image style look familiar. I tried finding others like it on RF but was unsuccessful. I suspect it is a fraudulent auction with stolen images. If you can please point me in the correct direction.
Thanks, Lee |

I would never buy a Rolex from ebay. If you do, you're basically asking for a frankenwatch.

Not necessarily true. There are people who sell a lot here on TRF that also sell on eBay. Just like anything else, do your homework and buy the seller.

True statement. I have been watching this forum since May of this year and noticed many HAPPY customer's whom purchased new and/or pre-owned Rolex. These sellers are on the forum and they often sell on eBay as well.
Good Luck!! |

Agreed. Although I've never bought a Rolex from eBay, I've shopped and sold many things through that site...just do your research

I purchased a Rolex from Ebay no issues at all. Remember know who you are buying from and buy the seller as well as the item.

A few basic rules for ebay:
Check the seller's feedback, not only for % but also for volume and for the type of items sold. Someone who has sold a few hundred high-end watches (don't all have to be Rolex!) with a high satisfaction % is probably a good bet. Also check out how they describe the watch. Do they take the time to specify the originality of the face and band? Has the watch been serviced? Is there a guarantee? If in doubt about anything, ask questions! Any good seller will take the time to answer completely so you will have no doubts as to what you are buying. BTW, the 'bay is a great place for parts, too!

I agree about doing research; some decent deals can be found. Never let money go if there are unanswered questions. Contact the seller after the purchase and before sending money is good practice. Even talking to the person and getting contact information from eBay is a good way. Also always pay by credit card.
None recognize the seller's photo? Oh well, I guess I'll have to let it go. Thanks, Lee |

Lee, please provide us with a link on the auction if possible. I'd look at feedback and previous auctions. If the pictures are stolen from here, pretty soon one of the trusted sellers should chime in as they usually recognize photos. You might also search the For Sale section here looking for Explorer I's for sale, but it sounds like you already did that.
And a big welcome to the Rolex Forum from a fellow UMGFer. |

Lee, do you want an Explorer I like the one pictured? The model has changed, that's the older one, and you can probably only find one used. You have a good chance of finding one in the For Sale section here, maybe even a new one, and there are some very good, trusted sellers. And the best thing is you won't even have to worry about whether those pictures were stolen if you start your search here. You'll need a few more posts before you participate, but I suspect you'll soon be passing me up on that score.

Bruce, still studying and learning. Trying to decide what to do. TRF is obviously a great source for used ones. Actually I wasn't so much interested in the older version but I really don't like use of stolen images in fraudulent sales on eBay. Yesterday it sort of clicked that I'd seen very similar pictures with the gloves somewhere else; I thought it was TRF. So it goes. Doubt I'll pass you up on post count any time soon. Thanks for the advice.

I bought my 116520 on eBay from a great seller with 700+ feedback. I looked on the bay for everyday for years... before I had the means to actually pull the trigger. I shopped the seller, I asked a lot of questions and got some smartass answers from some sellers, you'd think you wouldn't, but I did. In the end I got a brand new watch with everything I wanted.
