Jewels never hurt anyone (those are for Dino and Ken)...

Greetings TRF,

After looking at a few pictures of Dino's and Ken's pendents in the Your Rolex And Attire thread I thought I could take some with two pendents I really like (with the Datejust, of course), they both have a lot of sentimental value to me even if they aren't really blingy!

Thank you for watching, feel free to comment!

Hey Carl, what does the "C" stand for in the pendant ?

Actually very nice Carl, I quite like them! Also curious to know is there a meaning to the hieroglyphics on the 2nd pendant?

It stands for Canada, of course...

Thank you Alex! If memory serves, one of my mother's cousin's daughter (they live in Egypt) told me the second pendent has one of Ramses II's other names on it (I don't remember what it was exactly but I believe it sounded like Ra the great or something like that).

The first glyph is a representation of Ramses II

The second and third glyphs mean his throne name "Usermaatre Setepenre", loosely translated, "The Justice of Re is Powerful, Chosen of Re".
(sun) logogram of the god Re (sometimes spelled Ra)
(jackal head) triconsonantal w-s-r meaning 'be strong'
(goddess with feather) logogram of Maat, the goddess of justice, who carries an ankh (life)
(adze on a block of wood) triconsonantal s-t-p meaning 'chosen'
(water) alphabetic sign n
(sun) logogram of the god Re

Feras, believe me, even if I wanted to sell those with nowadays gold prices I don't think I'd get much, I think I'll stick to wearing them!

Carl, very nice cartouche. I spent alot of time in Egypt while in the military and picked up several cartouche pendants over the years. Got to watch the jeweler make a couple of them in Cairo, that was cool. I'm a big fan of gold, enjoy your bling!

Regards, Tim in Hawaii

That must have been very nice, I'd love to see a jeweler making one!

I'm with you on yellow gold jewelry, it's my favorite metal!

Why thank you very much Mike, that explanation reminded me of what that girl told me and it was pretty much what you wrote!

...Now where did you learn all this?

Thank you! That was actually one of my concerns when I purchased the watch but I found out it looked great (in my humble opinion, that is), I do agree with you my friend!

I grew up wanting to be Indiana Jones. Even started studying archaeology. Then realized that studying dead cultures is tedious and treasure hunting is pretty much frowned upon. Hung up my bullwhip and fedora for degrees in Biomedical and Electrical engineering instead.

Sorry to hear Mr. Jones!

Still, it seems like it has been useful to learn that!
