My little roli story
Hi everyone,
2nd time poster here. I've been wanting a rolex for years. I've always loved watches. I have a swiss army, A tag, a bullova, a roven dino and a couple of other cheap designer watches. The tag is nice, retailed for about 800 10 years ago. All I heard about was the kids have to go to college (which is true) and how we could use the money for other things. Well, I finally got the Ok from her and started to look around. I knew which one wanted. I love the DJ 16233, TT with WF and RN. I couldn't afford to get a new one, but I found a cream puff at reputable jeweler. This jeweler was actually the original seller of the watch. It has all the papers, the box and everything else. I don't have the serial number on hand, the box is in my closet, and even though the jeweler said the watch was 10 years old, I believe the watch is from 1999-2000, because their is a 1999-2000 calender in the box and the it has the "no holes" style bracelet which I think came out in after 1999? Anyway, the watch is mint. The dealer had it priced at 4800. I got it for 3200 + tax. I've seen them all over ebay for the same price or more so I think I paid a good price. I've only had the thing for a week and as some of you may have already read from my first post, I whacked the face on a filing cabinet at work today. I was pissed but their is only 2 minor, hardly visible scratches in between the 1 and the 2 on the crystal. Anyway, it's shiny and awesome and looks brand new and their is no denying it's a roli !!!! The only problem is now I want the SUB. I like the face which is 4mm larger. I also like the oyster bracelet. Guess I'll have to start scratching the wife's back a little more. |

Congratulations!
However, I advise you leave now as TRF may not be hazardous to your health but it will put a wallop on your wallet. I found that my second watch was much harder to explain to my wife than was my first. I'm still trying to figure what to say when I get my third.

Easy.
Open a free account at an image hosting service like photobucket.com Upload your pix to your account there. Left click on IMG Code under the pic you want, and "Copied" will flash in yellow. Right click where you want the pic in your post here, then choose Paste. Scroll down and click Preview Post to view the finished result.

Welcome to TRF!
Congrats on getting a classic DJ! I am sorry to hear about those scratches! Filing cabinets and Rolex do seem to be a bad mix, since JJ also scratched his Rolex on a filing cabinet, and so did another member recently I agree: The SS Sub Date is a beautiful watch, so I cannot blame you for wanting that one, too!

Congrats. You're a man of taste.
Stay away from the Forum if you DON'T want to be wearing a Sub next month.

He ain't kidding. I joined up to chat and increase my watch knowledge, and I"d always wanted a Sub. It didn't take long with JJ posting glamor shots of his TT Blue Sub for me to decide that I HAD to have one. Several months later, I picked one up. Now, I'm starting to want a Pepsi GMT. When/if I get one, I'll have to blame Mike. I'll have a nice collection as I go into the poorhouse!! Rawhyde |
