Nice collect you have. Is it very difiicult to get hold of the 16760 (fat lady) and how much would i have to pay for that gorgeous timepiece?

Eric, the 16760 was only made circa 1983-88 and is a bit of a rarity. The first GMT to introduce the "jump hour" feature, it was originally issued with only the RED/BLACK insert (though certainly other combinations will fit).
Dubbed "the fat lady" by a noted German collector because of it thicker case and crown guards, the thicker case was necessary because of the taller 3085 movement.
Often overlooked, it's a GMT that can still be had without selling a kidney though pricing (as with most vintage) has been rising. As you say finding one can be the issue.
I've seen pricing via vintage dealers at north of 4K, though I think with some searching it can be had for less today.

Terrific photos Mike. Nice case as well.

I like the 5 in profile. The 1675 & 16750 have a really high raised crystal. Were they sapphire?

Steve, the 1675/16750 were only issued with an acryllic crystal. For the GMT the first reference to debut a saphire was the 16760.

For me there's always been that "special something" about the look and warmth of acryllic.

I,ve said it before but it's worth repeating - that Gilt 1675 and matt 16750 are stunning.
Are you still searching for that elusive 6542?

Great collection! This place and pics like that make it virtually impossible to be a 1 watch guy. Maybe I should just try for one of each.

Mike,

Hello, wonderful collection of GMT’s. If possible could you please post a little history about each of your GMT’s. Year made, features, items of interest. I am not familiar with all the different models of the GMT. I have had a GMT-II for the past 10 years. All I knew was the GMT was the original and the GMT-II was an updated version.

Thanks in advance.

Here are two great articles written by one of the most knowledgeable GMT collectors I know. A couple of the photos used are mine, and I can't tell you what an honor that is.

Tom is a super guy that really knows his stuff.
