Who else finds deals on Craigslist?
I know, I know CL is not always the best source, BUT if you have a seller who is not active on forums such as TRF, TZ, etc., more often than not they go to CL.
I've bought two Rolexes on CL, both were complete and I had an AD authenticate them, and completed the transactions at a bank after everything checked out. Got them for less than than I would've paid elsewhere and it was face to face. A couple of weeks, I looked at a complete 16600, including the original receipt, and could've picked it for $4,800 but didn't. What's could be so bad about CL -- IF YOU ARE CAREFUL? |

I have found a couple... i will say there have been more false leads on Craigslist than genuine watches, however.

I haven't bought anything, but have looked. Do your due diligence and there are some deals I'm sure

I've had some good deals found in furniture, and I've even found a couple good deals on Louis Vuitton on CL, but I've had many shady characters on watches. Seen a few tryin to pass along a fake, others that want $8000 for a 1998 Submariner, and the rest appear to be pawn shops. I'm sure you can find good deals from time to time, but have to sift through a lot of garbage to find one.

I use Craigslist to sell items where I want a face-to-fact transaction. While I've had some success with this, it does have its share of persistent, big-time scammers. Buyers and sellers beware!
I must have a morbid curiosity because it's sometimes interesting to find out what these people have in mind. Even though I wanted a local cash deal, one guy insisted on Paypal, telling me he was out of the USA. I asked him why he wanted the item and where he wanted it shipped and he simply kept telling me that Paypal is so safe and that he couldn't tell me the country for security reasons! Red flags galore. |

A buddy of mine just bought a TT Sub Blue on Craigslist for 4500.00.
When he took it to out local RSC, Steve took off the bracelet and said it was the watch he just did a complete overhaul on at a cost of 1200. You would swear it was a brand new watch. Came with a 2 year warrenty and a story behind why it was selling cheap. Steve said the guy was into the thing for an honest 7800.00 so 4500.00 was a hell of a good deal |

I have seen some watches on craigslist but have been too skeptical to deal. For the most part I've seen either crazy prices, spam, etc. Would much rather deal here on TRF or even eBay for that matter where you have references, feedback, or via eBay at least some buyer protection.

CL doesn't have real deals no more. Too many thieves and con artists on the site trying to take away your money and watches.
If you don't believe me, try posting a Rolex for sale on CL and break out the popcorn. |

Found one locally
http://eugene.craigslist.org/jwl/3195624565.html Another one is 2hr away, but the guy was selling an almost new ceramic white gold sub for $750 because he needs money for tuition. Deals can be found on CL for sure, but I would be reluctant to buy/sell luxury goods on there. Too many horror stories in this economy. |

Craigslist and ebay are two of the best things that have evolved from a market-based economy...if you get duped, just like everything else in life, it's nobody else's fault but your own...the system will work for those who know how to navigate it...

Thank you, Craigslist.
Used it one time. Perfect transaction, and the guy lived about 10 miles away. I think I was lucky. Here's what I bought: |

Sounds like a great score, Linda!
Now, I'm not sure I'd try buying a Rolex from Craigslist, but there are other interesting deals to be had, and as others have said, ask lots of questions and get to know what you can about the seller before meeting up. You can tell quite a bit about someone from a telephone conversation. In the case of the old Ford, I think he was sizing me up just as much as I was sizing him up! |

I don't think that wittingly reaching out to engage in decent size transactions
W people who are completely unknown is smart. A rating system would Be a good start. Oh and shoot someone in FL and go to jail. |
