Sponsorship influence

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...=1833194084001

Andy Murray looked for his watch straight after his victory as he is paid 7 figure sum from Rado.

Rolex has Federer and Tiger Wood and other ambassadors from all background, plus their marketing cost. If Rolex spend £100m a year in promotion and they sell 1m watches; then each watch can be £100 cheaper.

How many here bought a Rolex because influenced by a famous celeb?

Have you been influenced to choose a product due sponsorship by celebs?

Celebrity sponsorship means absolutely nothing to me.

I was wearing a Rolex before Tiger Woods was born...

Really doesn't mean much to me. Seeing Nadal wear an RM watch really doesn't make me want to take out a mortgage just to buy a similar watch

TBH made me feel a bit sorry for him - the winning of the title should have been cause celebre enough but no...he's got to root around in his bag and find the watch to sort out his sponsors....bit sad.

I don't know if anyone specifically buys a Rolex because of an ambassador. IMHO it is good exposure and I think brands would suffer without such marketing plans.

Plenty of time for Andy to celebrate - for a couple mil a year I'll dig around for 30 seconds for my Rado. These guys have very short earning peaks and I don't begrudge them getting as much income as they can while it's there to be had.

I *am* always amazed at how fast these guys have their watches on after their matches are over - even in the earlier rounds for on-court interviews that only I am watching. Ferrer goes 5 brutal sets with Tipsarevic and then has a giant Bovet on four seconds later that outweighs his person. Guess Nadal has the right idea; wear a 20 gram watch. Then you can keep it on as you play. I for one ran right out and got an RM 028 after seeing his . . .

Knowing someone wear a watch simply because of a paycheck never sits well with me.. Regardless of how much exposure they may give product. Millions upon millions spent on endorcements. Worse part of it is that those who have to wear the watch may not even like it.. These "stars" get so many freebees.. yuck

Yea I don't see myself being impacted by celebrity sponsorship. I do however it is good to keep the brand out there in a positive light. Associating the brand with people who are the best in their field adds to the connection of achievement.

Never even thought about it before this thread. I don't care who they get to promote their wears, I wear what I like.

It's sublime marketing - more visibility makes more impressions.

Funny thing, the 70 year old new red Corvette buyer never said out loud that he looked sexy in it, but he will tell you at the drop of a hat what a good deal he got!

I didn't know any of those people wore Rolex watches until this thread... Plus, I hate watching sports.

Strangely enough, I'm a Deadhead at heart (though I don't dress the part now), and I didn't even know Brent Mydland wore a Rolex until someone here posted a video from when I used to tour in the late 80s and 90s (If indeed that was a DD Presidential he was wearing; It is too hard to tell.).

Sadly, I didn't even know Paul Newman wore a Rolex until I started hanging out on this forum! Of course, now that I have a collection I notice them in movies and TV shows...

My grandmother and my uncle wore a Rolex and I looked up to them. Does that count?
