1st thing you notice while spotting rolex in the wild
Relatively new to the Rolex world and was wondering - when you spot a Rolex in the wild, what is the first tell tale sign that it is actually a Rolex? Is it the case, dial, bracelet, or something else? I assume that in time, spotting one will become easier and more definitive but just wondering what the experienced watch watchers look for first.

Funny thing is I barely spot new pcs such as GMT-Cs, Sub Cs, Exp IIs.... but otherwise tons of 16610 Subs, Daytonas, DJs and such.

Bracelet and case is always the first tell tale from a distance for me...

Bracelet and the way the metal shines is the first thing I notice. Even with a Rolex that has a lot of fingerprints on the shiny parts, it still looks better than the polishing on other watches. The only way I can describe it is: the polishing looks "cheaper" on other watches.
Then I look for the cyclops and case design... |

The sparkle of the bezel edge tells me first on sports models- can see it a mile away and next is the bracelet

Been travelling on buis this week and saw plenty in Houston. Funny thing is, I NEVER see a pilot with a GMT MASTER. And I always look.

The Oyster bracelet.
Fit and finish are other giveaways.

The bracelet but it feels awkward sometimes when you can't quite tell for sure. I try not to stare but I want to ID the watch.
There is an art to spotting a Rolex in the wild and confirming it!

For me it is usually the bracelet, especially the oyster bracelet. Even the bezel I notice right away....

There's a certain shine they have. but if you spend a million hours staring at pictures your whole life, only to start building your own collection, and throughout the whole process stop by the AD on your lunch break every day, spotting them really becomes 2nd nature.

Cyclops...then wait for the angels to sing in the background. If no singing...then not interested.

Cyclops and the way the light catches the crystal without reflective coating. Then after that it's the bracelet, the model, etc.

Just spotted a WG TOG, blue dial with Jubilee bracelet last weekend from afar. The bezel, dial color, and bracelet were all quick indicators. Then again, this combo is one of my all-time favorites and they aren't too common. BTW, looked real sharp.
