Hello All,
Just traded my Explorer II 42mm for a Z series GMT Master II Pepsi. I found the new Explorer was top heavy for my wrist and just didn't feel comfortable. To date, I've tried two newer style watches. The Explorer and GMT IIC and haven't kept either. I guess I'm a fan of the older style cases. To me, they are much more comfortable and proportioned. I'm very excited about the Pepsi which will arrive tomorrow. Pics to come. For those reading this and own a Pepsi, feel free to post your pics. Thanks in advance. |

Congrats! Seems like there's a lot of love for the more classic style GMTs on the forum lately.

Good decision. I love the gmt iic but do prefer the Pepsi over the new exp II by a long way
Cheers

Congratulations Sandro! I'm a fan of older cases myself! Enjoy it as soon as you get it!

really depends on your wrist size, some can carry very well on a 42mm new exp II

My wrist is 6.75". I found the head of the watch too heavy and the crown was digging into my wrist most of the time causing me to constantly adjust the watch. Overall just wasn't comfortable for me.

I just want to point out that this all comes down to sizing of the bracelet. Yours was not sized correctly, which caused it to ride down to far on your wrist. No way should a twin lock crown dig into your wrist unless the bracelet is not sized correctly. The new Explorer II's allow for more adjustments than the older models so in theory, you should get a better fit compared to the old style Rolex sport watches. I always found my old GMT's very comfortable, they are very light and thin. The old style twin lock crowns are smaller than any watch I have ever owned, heck, my wife wears watches with larger crowns to be honest. Hopefully your new GMT gives you the comfort you are looking for.

Don't need to know the full details but just interested in whether this was a straight swap or money up or down. Seems to me the expii would be worth more, but maybe it's a unique pepsi or has some history that made it more worthwhile.

Wasn't a straight trade. I came out on top as the exp II is more $$$.
