Selling cheap watches here

Do y'all find it annoying when people here list cheap watches for sale? Maybe they are better suited to TZ or WUS? Reason I ask is that I have listed watches here ranging from $7.00- 6K and I feel that maybe I should refrain from listing the cheap stuff here to keep a certain decorum.

Just wanted to see what everybody thinks. I know there is no rule against it, but I don't want to be an annoying forum member.

If this wasn't the place for it then they wouldn't sell, I say go for it, let the moderators/Steve decide.

Forum decorum [sounds like a punk band] should not be affected by the cost of an item listed for sale. Rather it's based on the conduct of it's members.

X2 I like interesting looking watches and interesting complications. Some I can afford, some I cannot. But, I still like to look.

I don't know that sounds a bit snobby really. If someone has a vintage Seiko 150M diver, I rate that higher than some of the less attractive or interesting Rolex models, even though its a cheap watch, same for interesting Seiko 5s, and what about a vintage bumper Seamaster? It has an in-house exceptional movement and is a beautifully finished dress watch even if its only worth $500. The second money becomes a factor in this hobby, the fun and appreciation flies right out the window.

X2. I enjoy affordable watches and in fact I wear them a lot more than the high end stuff.

Agreed!

Plus I know many people with rounded collections including some Seikos or boutique watches so you never know when someone might want a watch not as expensive as most for sale here.

Wouldn't bother me at all. Sell anything the Mods see fit I say. I do sometimes wish there was a ROLEX only sales section. But, a name or model search deals with this quite nicely.

To Dan Pierce:

Yes Dan it does! FORUM DECORUM. Cracked me up!

I`m sure plenty of TRF members also enjoy a bit of "cheapness" from time to time, which reminds me,I may decide to sell that Eterna soon.

Your definition of cheap may be my definition of affordable given that I am purchasing a toy. Some of us have more moderate means than others or draw a different line between investing in good value and burning money...and cost has nothing to do with value. I can't stand watch snobs any more
than snobs about any other item...

I once had a sales woman insult me about how little my Omega cost. Believe me, to a grad student single parent, it was a LOT of money. I was livid and I have let anyone who asks know what I think of that store

This is beyond ridiculous, pompous, arrogant and snobbish!

I actually enjoy seeing more affordable watches for sale around here. It's always nice to know you have plenty of options. Some people will like to spend a lot on a grail or a special watch while others will want a beautiful timepiece that is good without costing a fortune. Different strokes for different folks as they say so I don't see why you shouldn't post your ads (in fact, I recommend you to do it).

...Anyway, worst case scenario, you don't find a buyer but it could happen even if you had a Patek Philippe to sell!

I would bet that a small percentage of TRF own only Rolex or other high-end brands. Most of us also have G-shocks, Seikos, etc... because they are fun and take a beating. I don't mind seeing the "cheap stuff".

Thanks for the support everyone! Just to be clear, I wasn't referring to G-Shock, Eterna priced stuff. More like this (which sold to a forum member).-

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=245791

Now I'll have more confidence listing those type items, not that I ever withheld anything...

If the only thing important about a watch was the money spent, I wouldn't even bother with Rolex.

I don't think I have a watch that cost less than about $50, but I quite a few between that and $100.

I concur with those who suggest free market dynamics.

I disagree with OP, I think anyone with a good rep can sell any watches on this forum

HOWEVER, whether it gets sold on this forum is entirely a differant thing

I usually go over to WUS for the average joe timepieces

You actually don't disagree with me. I was just asking if I was annoying anybody by doing so. The reason I was inclined to ask, is that my cheaper listings seemed like the only ones at that price point.

In the retail game, we don't really care for ugly words like 'cheaper'.
We prefer terms like: competitively priced ~ or ~ value minded .

That doesn't bug me.

I find it annoying when people have a new listing to announce a watch is sold. First of all, that's not a FS ad, so it shouldn't be allowed. Second, it buries other current FS ads for no good reason. I think it's very bad form.
