Oyster Patent crown

Can anybody tell me when the Oyster Patent crown was introduced. I am looking at a 1932 Cushion oyster which I believe should have the large onion crown. However, I have heard that many of the onion crowns were replaced by OP crowns. Would this seriously effect the value of the watch?

Well if it was not for the patent aquired by the RWC back in 1925 perhaps we would not have the twinlock or triplock system we have today.Over the years Rolex have acquired quite a few out sourced patents for the R.W.C like the twin lock crown system. It was around 1925 Hans Wilsdorf of Rolex heard that two Swiss watchmakers Paul Perregaux and George Pelleot, had taken out a swiss patent for a twin lock crown screwed stem system .Now Hans Wilsdorf of Rolex grasped that a hermetically sealed case, together with careful fitting of the crystal and a special stem mechanism, would produce a really water proof wristwatch. He quickly negotiated to have the Perregaux patent assigned to him, then Wilsdorf obtained a British patent on October 18 1926.And just a few months after the Rolex Oyster was born and became a commercial success.. And it was in 1927 that a lady stenographer called Mercedes Gleitze, swam the English Channel with the unheard of accompaniment of a wristwatch on her person. It was a Rolex Oyster wristwatch with a twin lock screw crown system, and it was on her person for the entire 15 hour and 15 minute swim.

The original Paul Perregaux patent screwed stem system 1925,which Hans Wilsdorf of Rolex aquirerd,to make the first oyster cased Rolex.
