XM ONYX RADIO Model # XDNX1V1

All,

Need your advise on captioned.

I received a coupon in the mail yesterday, where I can purchase the referenced Satellite Radio ($79.99 value) and Standard Satellite Installation ($40.00 value) as a bundle package for only $29.99, a savings of $90.00 dollars. I always throw away junk mail, but this isn't junk mail, b/c I'd like the option/service for my economy car.

Has anyone purchased the above package? Is it worth it. Is the product sound & reliable? Has anyone had any bad experiences with this?

I'm considering this for my 2012 Scion that did not offer XM Satellite Radio. All of my other cars offer XM, and I have the service on all of my other cars.

Apprec any opinions.

Cheers/BB

Sounds like they`re trying to get you as a user paying their monthly fee.

Read the deal carefully - you may not be able to add it as an additional radio on your existing account at the discounted monthly rate.

Instead, they recover the promotional purchase discount via a 12 month or 24 month minimum contract period at a higher than usual monthly rate.

Cruise through eBay for that radio model # - a newish Pre-owned costs $35-ish and you won't be stuck with a contract.

I had the Onyx radio in my Tahoe and never had any issues at all with it.

Did the install myself-the instructions were straighforward and easy!

Reception was great-depending on where I drove and my surroundings. Only time the reception really cut out was when i drove under a bridge or overpass, and that was only for a second or 2...

as for the monthly charge for the subscription-i have no idea, since I pay for the year upfront

Satellite radio came free for 3 months with my AUDI when I leased it, I then paid for it for three months after because I was doing a lot of interstate driving. When I cancelled it they bombarded me with offer after offer. "3 months for 29.95" "6 months for 25.99" I liked satellite, it was convenient however if you live/work in an area with terrestrial radio why pay for it? It's kind of like the cow/milk thing, save your money. Even a really GREAT deal is taking money out of your pocket and putting it in theirs...

There are also iPhone and Android Apps that freely stream radio from around the country and world. Plug it into your aux port and drive on!
