What do you guys think is the most desirable submariner? I'm not talking about the 116610, something a little older. Is there a model that just is more unique in the way the Gmt fat lady is?

To me the SD 4000 version or the sub LV 16610 with a black insert placed are my top 2 choices.

Vintage model of double reds are also very special

My favourite versions of the Submariner are the 1680 and the 5512. Proper diving tools through and through, tough as nails, and what a Rolex sports watch should be about. Maybe not the most collectible, but I think they were real stand out watches compared to their competitors at the time. Sapphire Subs do very little for me

I have a Submariner 5512 pointed guard, gilt dial, 2 liner (silver/gold), serial n. 578xxx, so 1960, flush-fit bracelet..

TRF is a VERY small percentage of Rolex's customer base. Don't know why you would ask which is the most desirable then want to omit the newest model. I know a ton of people that wear rolexes and I'm the only one on TRF and most know almost nothing about them. When they get a new one they go to the AD and get the newest model so I would say the newest models are always the most desirable to the largest percentage of potential customers.

I think this is correct. Like the old cases, but otherwise think the new subs are far more desirable. And most of the general public have no idea of the serial numbers or history. They, and I too, want the "upgraded" model.
