My 2008 Sea dweller is messing up!!!

I bought my SD new in Sep of 2008 and Have noticed lately that my date Is not acting right it will not change the date sometimes until 3-4 AM....and sometimes will not change at all even when I try to advance it manually seems to only do this 1 time a month but its never the same date Happened last month on the 5th and this month today on the 17th....Is it time for a full service?? WOW I was hoping that I could go the 7 years that people talk about on here.... I have got the watch to to the right date after bit of messing with it. UGH any thoughts?? My watch is not a safe queen but its not beat around by no means!! THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!

No idea, but taking a shot here. Scroll through the entire date calendar a couple times and move the hands too, maybe that will lube everything up?

Have to agree just cycle the date full month around a few times should sort your little problem and try giving your watch a full manual wind once a week even if worn. But long as my date has changed by next morning and I can see its changed thats fine for me.

My Z is good.not sure yours should be doing this. Try the running through dates option and report back.

I have an M series and the date always cycles between 00:00 and 00:00:45. Hope it feels better -Ron

This shouldn't happen solely because the watch hasn't had a service.

If you noticed that the SD changed date very near 12-1AM when new, and now it has begun to change later, then it is time to consider your first service.

Different things could be happening, but we'd be guessing. Things like the date wheel scrubbing, or a component in the change mechanism weakening, or something binding so that the spring can't accomplish the change within normal tolerances.

In any case, your regular service will sort it out.

Bring it to a competent watchmaker. Should be an easy fix, assuming you're not yet really due for servicing. Saves you time and money, rather than bringing it directly to RSC.

I have ran it thru a couple of time we will see if it will make things batter Ill kepp an eye out and make sure it doesnt do it. I do wind in manually about 2-3 times a week so i dont think thats it...You all are great!!!! Thanks

Well I ran the watch around for 2 months and it didn't seem to help it much. I bought the watch when it came in to the AD so it sat in the case less than 2 days. Not looking forward to having a service this soon but it is what it is!! Thanks all for your help!!

Man, that sucks. Sounds too early for service though. Both my old DJ and DD never had a problem with the date and were never serviced (DJ was 4 - 5 years old [M serial], DD was 7 - 9 years old [Y serial]).

I think you just got unlucky and something wore out prematurely in your SD. I would take it to a Rolex watchmaker and have them take a look. It's probably not something serious.
