Real or Fake Daytona

Hi All,

I'm about to pull the trigger on this Daytona but am a bit skeptical of it being a fake.

Would very much appreciate your comments and feedbacks :)

Please excuse the picture quality as they were taken from an online auction site.

Cheers

There are only two things to ask/say...

1.Why are you skeptical?
2.Don't buy it.

Agree.

And, the price is often an indicator. Is it too good to be true?

That said, I'm no expert, but looks good to me.

I'm skeptical bcoz the price is half of what you would normally pay for a Daytona but on the other hand, the seller has a really good rating so I'm kinda torn. Basically I just don't wanna get conned.

Are you able to tell from these pictures whether the watch is a genuine or a fake?

On the local yahoo auction site....well the auction hasn't end yet but from what I can gather from the end prices of the seller's other watch listings, they usually sell for around 60% of rrp.

It's either a fake or a bargain. I'm only asking coz I don't wanna miss out on this deal if the watch is genuine!!

From the pics it looks genuine, but if the price seems to good to be true, the whole listing is probably to good to be true.

X2. Be very carefull. As always why not buy here? Bought a few from here. Bought a bunch from my A D. Never any worries. Remember you get what you pay for. Good luck.

It's not that I don't wanna buy one from an AD, but I'm having great difficulty in sourcing one. Even if I can find one, the shops that stock the watch are either not an AD or are trying to charge a premium for it (generally 10% more than RRP)

Looks real but If it is half what is the current retail then I wouldn't do it.

If the seller was legitimate then he could get much much more.

Thanks for all the replies. Judging from what you have all said, I should probably just walk away.

Yea, walking away from the deal completely seems like a good idea.

don't pull the trigger if you're not sure what you're aiming at.

the markers actually look a little off to me.. but need better quality pictures to compare
The markers should be alittle bit stubbier

The serial in the inner bezel looks a little fishy, and maybe it's the pic but the gap between rolex rolex and serial looks rather too large. Between Rolex and "V"

It's scary because I've seen really good Replicas, An AD wouldn't be able to tell unless they open it.
These replica's cost over 1.5k because they use actual Rolex parts. But still cheaper than an authentic rolex.

so becareful ! and just noticed you're from hong kong, lol must be hard to find legitimate sales
my buddy got jipped on a Fake Hublot there, couldn't tell if it was real or fake till he took it in for service 2 years after purchase

This one will run $12K+ from an AD...you're saying they are selling this for $6K? Did you ask why the price cut?

The LEC is quite prominent in picture 3, and the "Swiss made" overlaps the markers I would stay away:

At half the price, he would have just sold (donated) it to a friend or family member.

Really no "steals"...anything that's going for half of what it should has a story.

I think the watch looks a bit off, but I have never handled a Daytona, so I couldn't really say.

However, I do not think the LEC is a problem, it is quite easy to make an authentic one stand out like that.

(Unless both my AD and justrolexes are selling me fakes! )

It doesn't seem fake but then again hard to tell from pics!! Also the R's look like they line up perfect with the hour markers on the 6 to 12 side and the X's line up perfect with the hour markers on the 12 to 6 side and its hard to grind a fave with that usually they don't line up. Also everyone always say there is no way to buy a rolex at a bargain but I got my gmt IIc for 2k box papers and everything also had it opened at Mayors and its all good so bargains do come along sometimes!!!!

Yeah, but you have a macro shot and the other has the flash light refraction technique. Both are common ways to photograph and see the LEC. The third picture is not using any particular technique, just a normal photo.
I find it incredibly difficult to photograph mine so for me that looks to out in the open, almost visible on purpose.
I'm not en expert on photographing but I'll stand by my opinion that it's not good.

Spend the extra money and buy from a trusted seller to assure its authenticity. It will be worth it. The whole thing sounds sketchy to me. No one with a genuine Daytona sells it at half price, even if they have no idea how much the watch is worth. It's too easy to google it to see its fair market value.
