Welcome to the Forum!
Yes, anything is possible. Some people purchase for investment purposes and sell New Old Stock (NOS) and/or Brand New in Box (BNIB). |

Just today saw an M-serial (M2XX,XXX circa 2007) Daytona at Tourdneau. Granted, white gold models don't exactly fly out of the showroom, but c'mon!
The funny thing was when I asked the salesperson how often Rolexes should be serviced and he said Rolex recommends every 5 years. I handed it back and said, "well this one is ready for service then." |

Said watch could then easily have sat for some time in the AD's vault before it was finally sold. Serial numbers are a vauge estimation at best. With the newer random serials, I do believe its pretty much impossible.

Just look at the Sky-Dweller that was recently listed on TRF. The case has a G serial # and they've been shipping since 2010 - alongside Randoms, too. The V serial # GMT II you mention could have been struck in 2008 up until 2010. And then sat waiting for a movement - then assembled - then shipped - then sat unsold...

Thanks for the information, I thought maybe Rolex kept a data base of watches/serial #'s with history for customer service, age/service record etc.
Thanks |

You're half right Joe, Rolex does keep records of watches which they've had in for service.
