Nice watch winder
Hey guys,
Where is the best place to get a watch winder of good quality but will not cost an arm and a leg. I have a single winder but wanted to get a nice box that I can store more than one watch in. I have seen a lot of places on line but I wanted to get some advice from the experts on the best place to buy. Thanks |

i've gotten most of my scatola del tempo winders rather cheap 2nd hand, more then 50% off msrp.
orbita winders can be had rather cheap as well, some other know names that i've used are underwood, and eilux. They are all good brands. i've tried tons of cheap winders before, and thrown them all away within 6 months, they always got loud after a while, so definitely don't go cheap. |

Wolf here.
I'm not sure if there's anyone on here who sells them, but as a few members mentioned Wolf is always having big sales on their site. Their customer service is great too! My wife bought a Viceroy triple winder with storage from an AD friend of ours for me for Christmas last year. The standard (medium depth) winder cushions it came with were a little deep for my bracelet watches. I really had to force them on there and was concerned it could cause damage to my bracelet clasps. I called Wolf to voice my concerns and they sent me an entire set of shallow cushions for free, no questions asked. |

So do you guys keep your watches on the winder all the time when they are not on your wrist or do you put them on the winder, on arm, then in box for a while. What's the best way to keep them running great

IMHO I'd only use a winder for complicated movements like perpetual or annual calendars maybe even a moonphase but not a simple watch.

Just what is the point of putting extra wear on movement and running any watch 24/7 when its not needed to tell the time on the wrist. If its not needed just let it stop and rest then when needed just wind and reset must take all of 30 seconds to do. And believe it or not that's what the winding crown is for, now with watches with many many complications then a winder could be a pure convenience.

I tended not to think about them, but having acquired a perpetual calendar recently I've just bought a Rapport two-watch winder which appears to be an excellent quality. I've also taken the opportunity to put my old gilt GMT on it, as I don't like to keep winding it through the days/weeks where that can be avoided.
A little video clip below... in operation it's completely silent, and every few seconds it stops and then goes in the opposite direction.

You can use a winder for a simple movement, but it only takes a few seconds to set the time and date. Put that $500 price tag of a winder toward the next watch.
