Advice needed from a GMT expert
Hi all,
This watch is being sold for 4000 euros. I had a look today but found it strange that the bracelet was did not have PCL. The watch comes with paperwork from Hong Kong. It is stamped November 2007 and a Z model. Should I go ahead with the sale or should i worry about the bracelet ? |

Looks to me like it had PCLs but they're just scratched to this hell and the next. Admittedly I'm on my iPhone so it's harder for me to tell.
Once she's had a good polish she'll be fine. Just remember to make sure the seller is a reputable stand-up guy or gal. If their reputation is air-tight you don't have to worry.

looks to me like the whole satin finish has been messed up and polished. Same with the lugs on the case. I wouldn't touch it.

Cannot see your photos but given the comments, I would pass.
This is not a watch which looks good beat up. |

It seems that this bracelet has been polished. So avoid it. There are plenty of used ones with very good conditions out there. Just be patient.

The hand stack is correct so it's likely legit but it sure looks dirty. You can find a better condition 116710 for €4000.

Thank you very much guys for the advice. I have not seen 116710 for less than 5000 yet on sale here. I also checked the chrono24 website and all started from around 5000.
I was thinking of trying to buy it for 3000 if the seller agrees. That would be still ok, right ? I have been looking out for the GMT ceramic for a few months and this is the first time I have seen within my budget..... |

To be frank, I wouldn't buy it any price in that condition. No doubt the factory finish could be restored, but I would hazard a guess that quite a bit of metal will have been removed by the time the job is done (including whatever was done to the watch in the first place). Also, it would be due a service around now, so you would need to factor that as well

I'll disagree with everybody else..
The watch appears to be in good condition.. Somebody just buffed the entire watch, so it not only has PCL's, but the rest of the watch is polished as well.. It wouldn't take more than a half hour to put a nice brushed finish back where it belongs.. If the price is right, it may be a bargain find..

IMO, that's a good price for that watch. Buy it then just send it to RSC and you'll still be ahead.

I wouldn't worry too much about the bracelet condition. You can easily polish it to make it look brand new again. Just have a certified watch maker check it out and make sure its authentic and no movement problems. This could be a bargain find.

the edges of the crown guards and bracelet all look far too rounded. for me I think I'd just wait and find another, or save for a while and get a better version. 4k is a whole heap to drop on a watch that you are not 100% happy with.

If you can get it for 3500 euro, that would equate to £2900.
As long as the watch is good (not stolen, meddled with internally or some kind of "supafake") then I'd be all over it. The uneven crown guard wear is only apparent on one pic, perhaps just a trick of the camera angle. 2 hours of careful DIY refurbishment would see it looking pretty darned good. Even an RSC service would see you having only spent £3500 in total, with you being left with a showroom condition GMTc and a two year RSC warranty. |

Also I forgot to mention that the bezel was not moving smoothly.
Could this be because of dust and dirt ? |

I think it's a fair price and the watch isn't that bad. It needs some love, but not much. Repolished by someone who has a clue, it'll hunt

I guess I am just too fussy about my watches. It may come out ok-provided you don't skimp on the quality of service...but I'd prefer to wait / save vs. grabbing what may or may not be a bargain.
